    Position Summary

    The 2nd or 3rd Class (with 4 exams written) Power Plant Engineer will report to the Chief Operating Engineer and other operating engineers while performing Industrial Maintenance activities and/or Power Plant Operations to meet production / plant operations requirements. This position is a progressive role starting in a maintenance role and progressing to Relief Operator, Turbine Operator and Shift Engineer as positions become available

    Key Responsibilities

    • Comply with all Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd Health and Safety policies and legislation
    • Completion of routine maintenance/ PM and operation of all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C systems and any other related equipment which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility
    • Full range of operating and maintaining the facility system, boiler and chiller plant, turbines, and pumps
    • Responsible for responding to and troubling shooting equipment

    Competencies

    • 2nd class Power Engineer Certificate or a 3rd class Power Engineer certificate with a minimum of four 2nd class exams written from the TSSA act
    • 2 years of related work experience
    • Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proficient in the use of computer systems
    • May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work, weekend and holidays work, and/or on call duties

    Required Skills & Abilities

    • Software , MS Office, Bailey DCS Controls
    • Maintenance Experience is an asset
    • Ability to prioritize work assignments

    Education

    • Required:Trade Certificate: 2nd class or 3rd class (with 4 exams written) Operating Engineer certificate of qualification.
    • Preferred:Trade Certificate: 2nd Class Operating Engineer certificate of qualification.
