    Our programs empower researchers, students, and startups in Canada to thrive worldwide.


    • Together with 13 provincial and territorial partners, we establish Canadas National Research and Education Network (NREN) to connect Canadas researchers, educators, and innovators nationally and globally.
    • To enhance the security of Canadas research and education sector, we collaborate with partners in NREN, government, academia, and the private sector to fund, implement, and support cybersecurity initiatives.
    • We offer identity management services to the academic community and support Canadas startups with cloud resources and expertise in emerging technologies.
    • We collaborate with Canadas higher-ed community, private sector, and government partners to ensure that Canadas bright researchers and entrepreneurs leverage critical technologies for their success.
    Cybersecurity Service Analyst

    • The Cybersecurity Service Analyst is responsible for providing support to institutions in English and French through the National Cybersecurity Assessment (NCA) lifecycle, managing the assessment platform, ensuring efficiency in the NCA reporting process, and delivering valuable NCA reports to participants.
    • Responsibilities may extend to supporting other services within NRENs cybersecurity portfolio.

    • Full-time, permanent position reporting to CANARIEs Manager, NREN Cybersecurity Services.

    • Responsible for developing and conducting user training, supporting the assessment process, enhancing report automation capabilities, and collaborating across teams and with external partners for the benefit of participating institutions.
    • Generates comprehensive reports for participating organizations to evaluate their cybersecurity status, evolution, and relative ratings, offering guidance on improvement initiatives.

    • Assists in aggregating assessment data, identifying cybersecurity gaps, and guiding investments at provincial and national levels.
    • Contributes to enhancing the NCA service through recommending and implementing service updates aligned with the NCA roadmap.

    • Requirements:
    • College diploma or university degree, or a suitable combination of education, experience, or relevant training.
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant governance, risk & compliance (GRC) cybersecurity work experience.
    • Experience in security posture evaluation, cybersecurity frameworks, and assessments.
    • Knowledge of Power BI or other business intelligence platforms is an asset.
    • CISSP or other relevant technical certifications are advantageous.

    • Essential Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication in French and English.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity risks in the academic sector.

    Technical Proficiencies

    • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
    • Deep understanding of NIST CSF and other cybersecurity frameworks to provide recommendations for addressing program gaps.
