    Who are we looking for?

    Our Alberta offices (Calgary or Edmonton) are looking for a Senior Transportation Engineer to join our growing Canadian Operations within the Western Canada Transportation Group .

    The Transportation Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and municipal transportation agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on large scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads and bridges, transit and multi-modal infrastructure, and transportation planning. Our team provides integrated transportation services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, transportation economics and business case advice, through concept, environmental assessment, detailed design and construction administration.

    Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in :

  • Client focused leader who will develop and manage a portfolio of projects & clients.
  • Have demonstrable experience in leading and growing a Transportation Service line business.
  • Contribute to and the development initiatives for regional objectives and target client programming.
  • Provide thought leadership, regulatory oversight and mentorship to the team and your clients, both internal and external
  • Ability to leverage your existing client relationships and reputation.
  • Ability to serve as project lead, relationship manager and/or engagement team member for regional relationships with public sector clients and contractor partners.

    • Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development and growth opportunities for GHD in the Alberta transport market, with both public and private sector clients, as well as support the broader GHD enterprise.
  • Support the growth of the team and skillsets within the Alberta market and more broadly.
  • Prepositioning, preparation, and coordination of proposals for clients as opportunities arise.
  • Overseeing project delivery teams from conceptual design, detailed design, related drawings, and technical specifications for civil road, highway & transit projects, including related transportation infrastructure
  • Managing project financials and project controls for GHD
  • Oversee the delivery of multidisciplinary projects within the transportation team.
  • Work with GHD's Project Management Office (PMO), Engineering Design Office (EDO) and regional design teams to collaborate, promote, and advance project.
  • Contribute to the mentoring and development of staff.
  • Championing Safety and Quality.

    • Skills, Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Civil Engineering Degree
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in project management and transportation, preferably design of highways and roads projects.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10-years' experience working in the Western Canadian transportation market.
  • Professional Engineer registered or eligible in Alberta and British Columbia
  • Experience with corporate strategic planning initiatives and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization in a collaborative fashion.
  • Strong business acuity and commercial skills.
  • Agile self-starter with a proactive, strategic, and creative approach.
  • Exceptional client engagement and relationship skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
