    Position Details

    Context: The Engineering Department acts as NL Housing's technical consultant, supporting the operations of the regional offices and other Head Office departments and staff. The Department provides a wide range of technical services, including: technical investigations and reporting; asset management; budgeting, planning and procurement related to construction projects; contract administration; environmental management and energy use management and analysis. The Department also provides concept design and detailed building design for both renovation projects and new construction.

    Duties:

    Reporting to the Director, Engineering, the Incumbent is accountable for general technical support as well as the management of projects related to residential renovation and new construction. The Project Manager co‐ordinates and supervises the planning, design, procurement and administration of construction, renovation and capital works projects. The incumbent will assist in the preparation of budgets and monitoring related expenditures; supervise technical staff and liaise with contractors, municipal authorities, government representatives and other agencies and stakeholders regarding development and/or construction projects; and maintain safety compliance as it is an important component of the position. The successful applicant oversees project management activities and monitors progress on construction and development projects. Work also involves retaining and managing external consultants, including the preparation of Terms of Reference (TOR) and related administration. The position performs other related technical work, including technical assessments and evaluations.

    Criteria

    Screening Criteria:

    1. Completion of a Diploma program in Architectural, Civil or Building Engineering Technology, or Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture (Equivalencies may be considered)
    2. Experience in engineering technology
    3. Experience managing residential construction and/or building renovation projects
    4. Supervisory experience (asset)
    5. Membership in PEGNL, NAA, or AETTNL (asset)

    2. Knowledge of building codes, legislative regulations and applications
    3. Knowledge of project management principles
    4. Proficiency with office software
    5. Ability to effectively exchange information
