    Program Coordinator - Saskatoon, SK, Canada - University of Saskatchewan

    Primary Purpose: The Coordinator supports the goal of the Division of Continuing Medical Education (CME) to engage with healthcare professionals to enhance health care outcomes by delivering continuing professional learning that is focused on the needs of the patient and their communities. The primary purpose of the role of Coordinator is to provide administration and coordination of the Saskatchewan Non-Licensed International Medical Graduate (IMG) Support Program (hereby known as the "Program").

    Nature of Work: Reporting to the Director and working through the Associate Dean CME, the incumbent must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to meet expected goals and objectives of the Division of CME. This role implements the IMG Support Program and provides information and support to International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who have received their medical education elsewhere but are not currently licensed to practice in Saskatchewan. Program policies are applied to determine a client's eligibility for the Program. Components of the Program are delivered through multiple modalities and are scheduled at various times of the day and week to meet the needs of learners, including early mornings, evenings and weekends. Occasional travel within the province may be required.

    Accountabilities:

    • assist non-licensed IMGs in Saskatchewan with the medical licensure process;
    • provide a Program overview and undertake an intake interview to screen eligible IMGs;
    • assist IMGs to develop an action plan with career goals, pathways and timelines;
    • coordinate and administrate access to program components and appropriate services available based on the eligibility of each participant;
    • update Program documents and resources as required;
    • promote the Program in Saskatchewan;
    • collect fees and arrange payments for monetary transactions as per Program requirements;
    • collaborate with division's research team to develop, distribute and collate survey tools for program participants, preceptors, advisory committee, program directors and stakeholders;
    • organize, coordinate and support all components of the Program;
    • apply accreditation guidelines, and incorporate adult learning principals when coordinating and administering educational programming;
    • recruit and support supervising physicians licensed to practice in Saskatchewan to support program participants;
    • maintain organized and accurate records and administrative processes to support the success of the Program;
    • ensure all financial records related to the Program are maintained and processed according to University Policies;
    • ensure the financial integrity of the Program through the appropriate use of resources to ensure they are in alignment with agreement(s) and established guidelines;
    • work as part of a team to support the needs of CME and actively and effectively participate on committees and work teams as assigned;
    • research and develop alternate career pathways and opportunities for participants;
    • in collaboration with the Educational Designer, contribute to the development of an on-line resource repository;
    • build and maintain collaborative and respectful relationships with colleagues and stakeholders;
    • promote continuing medical education opportunities to participants and stakeholders;
    • engage various stakeholders (including government Ministries, regulatory bodies, college departments, etc.) to ensure appropriate individuals and stakeholders are involved in programming decisions;
    • provide regular reports to the funding agency, including financial, narrative and statistical reports (qualitative and quantitative);
    • ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment;
    • continuously identify, share and implement process and quality improvement;
    • accountable for personal growth and development;
    • adhere to University Policies;
    • other Duties as Assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education, Education, Health Science or equivalent. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

    Experience: 3-5 years of experience coordinating or administering programs within a University, Government, Education or Community Health environment, including customer service responsibilities and maintaining culturally diverse client relationships. Basic familiarity with the medical licensing processes for physicians in Saskatchewan in addition to an awareness of the process of education within the UofS College of Medicine is considered an asset. Experience working with immigrated newcomers to Saskatchewan is required. Experience applying policies, administrative guidelines and procedures is essential.

    Skills: Project management skills with the ability to make sound decisions, manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail; ability to effectively work both independently and as part of a team with strong organization and time management skills; ability to understand and apply processes and policies; strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to engage in interactions with tact, discretion, confidentiality and cultural sensitivity; ability to work with stakeholders with diverse perspectives; basic accounting skills, proficient computer skills including working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Outlook are essential to enable effective communication and preparation of materials and documents needed to successfully coordinate the Program.
