More than 100 years later, it is the headquarter for one of the country's most advanced academic and research-intensive cancer centres and is set to grow by adding a new patient care tower and advanced diagnostics.     • C4, Hematology & Oncology is an inpatient unit providing care for individuals with malignant hematological diseases. The primary modes of therapy are intensive chemotherapy, transfusion and antibiotic support for immunosuppression and stem cell transplantation. As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the job description and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on Unit C4. Schedule Work Hours
    • Rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays Qualifications - External
    • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
    • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
    • Current successful completion of the de Souza Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course or Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate equivalent course required
    • Recent (with the last 2 years) experience in the care of oncology patients preferred
    • Advanced oncology-nursing credentials such as Certified Oncology Nurse (CON(C), McMaster University Oncology Nursing Certificate, Mohawk College Oncology Certificate or equivalent from and accredited educational institution preferred
    • Demonstrated knowledge, assessment, and care plan management of acute malignant hematology patients receiving chemotherapy, radiation, or a palliative approach preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to partner with patient and families to ensure the optimal patient experience along the hematology care continuum
    • Committed to continual professional growth and enhancing hematology nursing skill set with career progression
    • Demonstrated experience and skill in chemotherapy administration, venipuncture, and vascular access devices preferred
    • Preferred experience in the care of patients undergoing blood cell transplantation
