    Description


    We are seeking a Director, Communications to join our growing team Reporting to the CMO and based out of our Markham, ON office, this role will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies across public relations, corporate communications and internal communications that will put Xplore at the forefront of connecting rural Canadians with reliable high-speed internet. In addition, this role will support in leading the development and implementation of Xplore's Employment Brand strategy and Culture & Engagement Plan in partnership with HR, with the goal to elevate Xplore's brand both internally and externally.



    Key responsibilities include:



    • Lead proactive and reactive development of Press Releases and media relations to help advance the Xplore narrative of delivering on our ambition to bringing reliable, high-speed internet to rural Canada.

    • Develop an annual communication strategy, including a LinkedIn and media strategy, aimed at elevating funding updates, strategic partnerships, leadership announcements and other milestones.

    • Lead the development and implementation of an annual internal communications strategy, including working with cross-functional teams to ensure inputs, priorities and suggestions from all Business Units are considered.

    • In consultation with the HR department, lead the development of a team engagement plan and events calendar, including leading a cross-functional team to brainstorm ideas and share best practices.

    • In partnership with the HR department, create and continually strengthen the organization's Employment Brand strategy, with guidance from the Executive Leadership Team and input from team members across the organization.



    The ideal candidate will possess:



    • A minimum of 10 years' experience in strategic communications, including public relations, corporate communications, internal communications, and employment branding

    • Proven track record in developing and executing comprehensive internal and external communication strategies aligned with organizational goals and priorities.

    • Proficiency in leading proactive and reactive PR efforts, including developing and implementing a comprehensive media strategy, crafting press releases and acting as a primary contact for media.

    • Proficiency in developing a team engagement plan and events calendar, fostering a positive organizational culture in collaboration with HR and cross-functional teams.

    • Knowledge and experience in developing and strengthening an organization's employment brand strategy, aligning it with the company's mission and values, and exploring external recognition opportunities.

    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive successful implementation of communication strategies.

    • Demonstrated ability to stay updated with industry trends, best practices in communications, and innovative storytelling approaches

    • Ability to analyze communication metrics, feedback, and market trends to assess the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven decisions.

    • Familiarity with digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems

    • Prior experience working with municipal, provincial and federal government stakeholders is considered an asset.
