- Concept and detailed design of automotive components and systems including wet clutches, oil pumps, and shafts per specific customer requirement as well as advance R&D..
- Create CAD models and drawings in accordance with industry standards.
- Lead dFMEA development, specify DV and PV requirements, and specify validation and development tests.
- Manage the production of prototype parts and assemblies.
- Manage projects in compliance with APQP and ISO 9000.
- Maintain and organize design and project documentation per internal and customer requirements including confidentiality.
- Regular dialogue and visits with customers and suppliers.
- Judge accuracy and completeness of mechanical engineering drawings ensuring drawings adhere to required codes and standards.
- Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering.
- Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is mandatory to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (.
- Minimum three years of previous related experience.
- Previous design experience in one or more of the following considered an asset: transmissions, wet clutches, oil pumps, shafts, gears, castings.
- CAD experience in one or more of the following SolidWorks, Catia, UG, I-DEAS, Pro/E. considered an asset.
- Knowledge of mechanics of materials, metallurgy, and materials selection, fluid flow, testing methods and related analysis and calculations.
- Knowledge of design and manufacturing disciplines including dFMEA, pFMEA, DVP&R, reliability, failure analysis, problem solving, SPC, DCP.
- Make indirect measurements using trigonometry and geometry.
- Able to judge accuracy and completeness of mechanical engineering drawings ensuring drawings adhere to compulsory codes and standards.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and possess problem solving skills in a team or individual setting.
- Able to facilitate discussions with co-workers to co-ordinate work and brainstorm solutions to problems encountered.
- Ability to coordinate and integrate work within team of engineers and technicians working on common projects.
- Able to attend conferences, workshops and courses as needed.
