Our Kids¿ Health is a community-led, culturally-congruent social media parenting program designed to support families in creating responsive and nurturing home environments to promote early child development, well-being and play.

The Our Kids¿ Health project in the Department of Pediatrics at St. Michael¿s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto is currently looking for a Research Coordinator (I)to oversee the Inuit Kids¿ Health chapter.

Building off the success of Punjabi Kids¿ Health and Tamil Kids¿ Health, the research team has expanded our social-media based mental health program to 8 additional cultural-linguistic groups.

The program is now seeking a research coordinator representative of the Inuit community to lead the implementation and coordination of this chapter.

This position performs research and program activities involving digital content creation, content translation, coordinating the collection, summarizing and analysis of data, posting content and gathering feedback for content.

Tasks may include assisting in study administration, adhering to research protocol and working with the research manager to carry out various aspects of the project.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in setting project goals
  • Liaison between community advisory group and research manager
  • Completing project activities according to timeline
  • General office duties e.g. filing, faxing, mailings, courier services, photocopying, etc.
  • Coordinating the administration of surveys, conduction of interviews, data entry and analysis
  • Creating and adapting social media content (infographics and videos)
  • Overseeing social media analytics and providing feedback on appropriate time to share content
  • Conducting literature searches
  • Interacting with various departments such as translation, research ethics and community partners
  • Liaison between community leaders and research manager
  • Assist the manager in preparing monthly reports of social media chapters
  • Design and posting of all digital content
  • Reviewing and ensuring accuracy of all digital content
  • Assisting Investigators and research manager in the interpretation and implementation of study protocols
  • Assist with peer review of social media content and incorporation of feedback
  • Assist with review of material by community advisory boards
  • Other additional duties as assigned by the Research Manager.
  • Community engagement with digital content

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree OR equivalent combination of experience and alternative education.
  • Identifies as Inuit
  • Previous experience coordinating a social media channel or account preferred
  • Previous research experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience creating infographics, creating social media content and editing videos preferred
  • Previous experience updating social media content based on real time use of social media analytics preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills.
  • Superior organizational skills to manage multiple projects in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload.
  • Professionalism and selfmotivation
  • Good personal and program time/detail management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent computer skills including Word Perfect, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet, database and statistical software
  • Working knowledge of graphic design software (e.g. Canva)
  • Experience with communityengagement based research an asset
  • Understanding of social determinants and health and inequity
