  • Why is this role important?

    Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Technology Services, the Qlik Administrator provides daily administrative and development support for CIHI's Qlik platform. Provides technical expertise & recommendations to CIHI management relating to the corporate BI/Qlik usage strategy.

    Provides consults with ITS staff as well as business areas. Formulate policies and procedures relating to Qlik application development and management and maintains the optimal performance of Qlik business intelligence applications, performance monitoring, capacity planning and tuning.

    What you'll do

    1.Designs, implements, and maintains the development, staging and production of the Qlik server environments.

    2.Provides daily Qlik administrative and development support including:

    •Product installation and hardening, version upgrades, patch management, daily system monitoring, usage reporting

    •Security/user authentication

    •BI Project architecture

    •Create data connectors

    •Publish applications into streams

    •Qlik multi node performance tuning

    •DEV Env support

    •BI project/object migration through development, UAT and production environments

    •Creates Qlik objects to meet report requirements (i.e., attributes, metrics, filters, prompts and reports)

    •Extension Support

    •Load testing analysis

    •Streams and access management

    3.Provides senior-level recommendations to ITS on the selection of Qlik related software and hardware. Makes recommendations relating to the development of the overall corporate Qlik usage strategy.

    4.Provides cross-training, support and knowledge transfer to ITS development/ maintenance teams and business areas.

    5.Leads and coordinates the resolution of Qlik related technical issues in a time-sensitive/ priority-sensitive manner.

    6.Designs, implements, and administers Qlik security, including object, user and report related security.

    7.Develops relationships with vendor and maintains vendor relationships (including acquiring new patches, software upgrades, license maintenance and promoting industry best practices).

    8.Develops and documents policies and procedures for Qlik system processes. Maintains and documents Qlik related data profiles/engineering and architecture and maintains current knowledge of advancements in the latest Qlik technologies.

    9.Supports the Information Security Management System (ISMS) through the implementation, management and/or monitoring of required Information Security controls and participates in key ISMS processes as required, including but not limited to Risk Management, Audit and Assessment, Monitoring and Reporting and Record Management.

    What you'll bring to the table


    •Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

    •Minimum of 5 years Data Warehousing knowledge and experience in an Oracle and AWS data lake environment; and a minimum of 3 years' experience as a Qlik Administrator.

    •Solid knowledge of Qlik.

    •Experience with configuring, tuning, upgrading Qlik server and cluster.

    •Qlik security administration experience.

    •Solid knowledge of SQL (both programming and tuning).

    •Strong application development background.

    •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and oral. With the ability to communicate effectively with users, management and technical staff.

    •Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

    •Works well under pressure and prioritizes competing issues appropriately.

    •Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.

    •Ability to work in fast-paced multi-disciplinary teams.

    •Ability to work as a team player and leader.

    •Must be able to work after hours/weekends and on call.

    •MicroStrategy certification is an asset.

    •Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, the CIHI environment and program areas is an asset.

    •Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
