**POSITION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties for this position may involve but are not limited to:
- Film, edit and produce high-quality videos in studio and on location for both public relations campaigns and internal training and communication
- Create public service announcements and develop concepts for inhouse promotions, including writing and developing scripts
- Videotape and photograph community events, press conferences, training activities, scenes of active investigations including warrant executions, studio interviews and messages from senior leaders
- Produce, stream and monitor live audio/video webcasts and podcasts of YRP events
- Create original motion graphics and animation for video production
- Direct talent for video production, including recruiting and scheduling members and volunteers as well as scouting and hiring acting professionals.
- Operate Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) for both operational (ie. internal training) and promotional (ie. social media campaign) use, following all safety and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical and creative input to members of Corporate Communications as required
- Operate and maintain the York Regional Police studio production facility, including the maintenance and upgrade of equipment
- Serve internal and external clients in a professional manner, meeting project deadlines and deliverables
- Understand and work within the York Regional Police graphic standards, style guide and design expectations. Review videos destined for York Regional Police social media channels and make recommendations to ensure brand standards
- Provide photography and photo editing support for communications products including YRPNet, , social media platforms, annual reports, business plans and marketing materials
- Research and advise on capital equipment and material purchases, ensuring the department is kept current to industry standards
- Post video content to social media platforms.
- Required to follow safety and security procedures in performing the duties of the job
- Financial responsibility for conducting research and providing feedback on pricing and budget items during budget preparation
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a three (3) year college diploma in Journalism, Video Production, Multimedia, Film and Television Production or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in a related role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Proficiency in filming and editing techniques, including colour correction, sound balancing, music selection and special effects
- Ability to utilize media encoding software
- Experience utilizing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, etc.).
- Proficiency of digital photography
- Solid understanding of new media technologies
- Problem solving abilities in order to determine new communications platforms and video and/or graphic technologies that can improve the way YRP communicates
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal members at all ranks, external vendors/suppliers and community agencies
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on projects to communicate key messages to all audiences
- Project management skills to ensure that production timelines are met
