- To lead a group of employees in one or more classification, and to co-ordinate all phases of the work in the group.
- To carry out instructions from the Supervisor by directing the work of others and ensure they are working efficiently.
- To be responsible for ensuring that those being supervised understand and follow all applicable rules and regulations, including work hours, plant safety and health rules, and procedures.
- To see that good housekeeping is practiced in the working area.
- To assist in the training of apprentices or other employees as required.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of the work of the trade concerned.
- Must be skilled in the performance of the work of the trade mainly concerned.
- Must possess the ability to interpret and to follow instructions.
- Must have the ability to assign, supervise, and inspect the work of the trade concerned.
- Must possess a sense of responsibility and the ability to work without direct supervision.
- At least equal to the classification mainly concerned, but Secondary School preferred.
- Must be fully qualified in the classification mainly concerned and have some years of subsequent practical experience.
