    Research and Communications Specialist
    Temporary Full-time

    The City of North Vancouver has an exciting temporary full-time Research and Communications Specialist position to work within the Economic Development Division of the Office of the CAO for approximately six (6) months, to provide research and communications assistance and administrative support.


    In this role, you will research, prioritise and follow up on issues within the Economic Development Division, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature as well as priority projects.

    You will analyze data for confidential reports that may impact local policy decisions.

    Other duties will include preparing briefing documents for meetings and presentations; in consultation with the Communications Department, assisting with communication materials to internal and external audiences focused on ensuring timely and updated information on priority projects; and working with the Corporate Officer to support reporting and engagement with Mayor and Council, as well as the City Leadership team.

    You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


    This position requires an individual with a high degree of integrity, diplomacy and discretion in managing confidential and sensitive documents and information.

    Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and strong interpersonal skills are required. You must have the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Exceptional attention to detail, flexibility and an enthusiastic attitude are essential.


    The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science or relevant discipline, with at least 5 years' related senior administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience working in a local government environment would be an asset. The demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate a variety of tasks and assignments is also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, together with a working knowledge of an electronic Records Management System would be beneficial. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence is required.

    During the recruitment process, applicants will be required to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).

    We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $92,712.00 to $109,056.00 annually (2024 rates). (Salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity.)
