    Position Overview

Puresky Energy is seeking a Manager, Electrical Engineering who is eager to contribute their expertise in leading electrical design and engineering efforts to support cost-effective energy system projects in the USA, with particular emphasis on solar and/or battery storage projects.

The Manager, Electrical Engineering manages a team of electrical engineers and has the primary responsibility to lead the electrical design and engineering efforts through the renewable project lifecycle. This role works closely with the Associate Director, Project Engineering to contribute the electrical engineering deliverables through the renewable project lifecycle.

The Manager, Electrical Engineering provides leadership and coordination in bringing together the necessary stakeholders to reach the optimal electrical design for our projects at various stages of the project lifecycle. The PureSky Electrical Engineering team is responsible for coordinating the creation of optimized designs in support of interconnection applications. In later project stages, the design work is passed over to external firms (either an EPC firm or a firm that acts as the Engineer of Record). In this case, the Manager, Electrical Engineering is responsible for coordinating the quality review of electrical engineering designs provided by third parties (e.g. Issued for Construction designs, As-Built designs, etc.).

When there is a lack of clarity around the design rules and/or market constraints that hinders the ability to arrive at technical solutions, the Manager, Electrical Engineering works with Authorities (such as NYSERDA or NE-ISO) to obtain corresponding clarification.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage the Electrical Engineering team members, providing technical and ethical guidance and support as needed. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team, promoting the pursuit of new skills and knowledge to enhance project outcomes and team success
    • Collaborate with the other EPC and Development team members to establish a schedule of the Electrical engineering contributions to the overall project engineering lifecycle. Manages the provision of electrical engineering deliverables in accordance with the schedule.
    • Collaborate with the Interconnection team to ensure the timely provision of electrical engineering deliverables required for interconnection applications and electrical engineering analysis in the review of interconnection studies.
    • Collaborate with the Procurement team in the evaluation and selection of equipment and electrical engineering firms from the initial stages, including creating and managing the RFP process, identifying, and engaging with potential EORs, reviewing proposals, providing cost comparisons, and advising the VP and other EPC leaders in the selection of Engineers of Record (EORs).
    • Provide technical leadership for major equipment procurement, including Inverters, Transformers, Pad-mount switchgear, and other BOS. Collaborate with the Procurement team and other EPC leaders to ensure the procurement process meets project needs, schedules, and budgets. Participate in procurement meetings, review equipment specifications, lead technical Q/A, and select the optimal technology based on the project needs, schedules, cost, etc.
    • Support and collaborate with the Development Team and State Managers to identify their needs and coordinate and assign the task to the right team members to ensure the timely and effective delivery of project requirements.
    • Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance and feedback to team members on their work, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and deadlines.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations related to electrical engineering projects, and ensure that all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.
    • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying potential risks and issues early and developing mitigation strategies as needed.
    • Identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvement within the electrical engineering team, and implement new tools or procedures as needed to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Manages the engagement of both in-house electrical engineers and 3rd party Electrical Engineering firms for the delivery/review of electrical engineering analysis (e.g. Power Systems analysis) and design (PSSE, PSCAD models, 1-line and 3-line diagrams).
    • Coordinates reviews of IFC and As-Built drawings with members of the electrical engineering team to provide appropriate and effective quality control.
    • Reviews electrical engineering drawings and documents of different project phases on system architecture, communication, and control grounds
    • Studies the rules and regulations of different Utilities technical requirements for integration of DER into the power grid considering the impacts on the normal grid operations and developing an optimal design solution.
    • Supports the decision-making process and risk mitigation plans related to technical issues at the system level
    • Supports senior management and various Pure Sky teams on a variety of other duties as needed.
    • Qualifications:
