- Immerse yourself in our community - develop community contacts, regularly check in with police, fire and ambulance, etc.
- Attend news events, chase stories and follow up on files.
- Attend municipal government, school district and regional district meetings regularly.
- Edit and produce stories for television, radio and the web on a daily basis.
- Collaborate as a team to brainstorm riveting story ideas and news coverage plans.
- Expand your skills by reading news, weather, and sports on Radio and on occasion, take on the opportunity to backfill the anchor chair
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be comfortable in front of the camera with a professional presence and be ready to dive into live TV
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a mature and professional manner.
- The ability to work as part of a team and work with minimal supervision at times.
- Degree or Diploma from a recognized Broadcast/Journalism Program or equivalent experience
- Experience and demonstrated ability to operate ENG camera and editing equipment
- Knowledge of Burli and Final Cut or similar programs, considered an asset.
- Preferred 1 - 3 years' experience in a similar or related position.
- A full and unrestricted Class 5 drivers' licence with a clean drivers' abstract is required
