About this opportunity:

The Shutdown/Turnaround/Outage (STO), Manager will lead and provide guidance to the STO team. The STO, Manager will be accountable to develop, manage, and implement a detailed shutdown, turnaround, outage plan & schedule for the Oilsands assets. This will be done in timely collaboration with key stakeholders, with a goal to safely and effectively complete turnarounds within the Oilsands on schedule and budget. The STO, Manager will also be expected to effectively coordinate and support the management of the turnaround, by providing onsite executional support to the site maintenance and operations teams.

Responsibilities as a Leader:

Managing the Business:

• Responsible for adherence to the Turnaround delivery model and all Turnaround Work processes. Reviews the delivery model frequently to ensure it continues to meet the objectives of the business.
• Work with Long-range (iSTO) team to define and update strategic long-range plans.
• Work with the iSTO team to Identify opportunities for frequency extension between turnarounds.
• Supports the development of the Turnaround goals, scope, and premise documents to support the Turnaround.
• Ensure governance of assigned capital and expense projects for the Turnaround.
• Drive compliance to the Turnaround Milestone Schedule and Turnaround Premise.
• Ensure resource requirements are accounted for and work with facility to ensure demands and commitments are met.
• Develop and present Turnaround overview presentations for site and senior leadership.
• Accountable for definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure Turnaround execution effectiveness.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance of the overall Turnaround event
• Accountable for ensuring site Process Safety Management processes and requirements are followed.
• Create Executive Summary reports and ensure historical data is archived for future Turnaround planning.

• Ensure lessons learned process is developed and followed to support continuous improvement.
• Develop Contracting Plan and Technical Bid documents, then support Supply Chain Management in the overall procurement of service contracts.
• Support company turnaround process standardization and improvement through participation in technical networks and cross-functional projects as requested.
• Promote a culture of excellence to execute each turnaround event in a way that produces extraordinary performance results in all aspects - health, safety, environmental, security - as well as reliability, productivity, and quality.
• Lead Steering teams for each turnaround to support readiness and to effectively manage risks.
• Ensure individuals' and STO team objectives are aligned to the business priorities.
• Ensures the implementation and ongoing development and compliance with the Cenovus Operations Integrity Management System (COIMS).
• Collaborates across teams by sharing learning, best practice, and providing data/feedback objectively.

Leading Others:

• Ensures current and future talent/skill needs of the team are met through development and staffing.
• Utilizes an appropriate balance of "doing" and "leading" to achieve team goals.
• Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to the STO team.
• Responsible for the ongoing development of direct reports (personal and technical).
• Manages performance of direct reports through timely feedback and regular performance conversations.
• Is open to input from the team and makes decisions that support Our Cenovus.

Leading by Example:

• Models "Our Cenovus" in both internal and cross functional activities.
• Continually looks for developmental opportunities for self and for those they lead.
• Supports company direction/decisions and translates/aligns business priorities to STO team objectives.
• Monitors safety and role models the professionalism of a safety manager.

Who you are:

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• 15+ years of leadership experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams supporting turnaround planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Extensive experience in change and behaviour management.
• Proven ability to plan and coordinate deliverables.
• Excellent project management, scheduling, and time management skills.
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
