Position No. 34963
The Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time, probationary Instructor position at the rank of Instructor I or Instructor II in Applied Human Nutrition and Dietetics. We are seeking to recruit an individual to add complementary expertise in Applied Human Nutrition at the graduate and undergraduate level and assist with the coordination of the accreditation and program review processes.
Start date will be September 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate is expected to: 1) teach up to twenty credit hours per academic year, update and coordinate Masters of Applied Human Nutrition (MAHN) academic courses, 2) assist with the coordination of accreditation and review of the dietetic programs 3) collaborate with other academics in the department and faculty, and the broader university community where common interests or synergies may exist; 4) collaborate with external partners, 5) participate in recruitment events and activities planned by either the department or the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences; and 6) participate in the department's committee responsibilities within the University of Manitoba community.
Mentoring by a senior member of the department/faculty will be available to the successful applicant, if required. Faculty members at the rank of Instructor are expected to contribute to service and the various committees required for the functioning of the department, faculty, and university.
Qualifications :
The successful candidate must: 1) have a minimum of a Master's Degree for appointment to the rank of Instructor I or a Master's Degree and 5 or more years' experience in a University or equivalent position for appointment to the rank of Instructor II ; 2) be registered or be eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba; 3) have demonstrated teaching experience at a post-secondary institution or equivalent, preferably with experience in teaching applied nutrition 4) possess the necessary personal attributes to collaborate effectively in a team environment and 5) have a minimum of two years' experience working in dietetics.
Additional Information :
The Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences resides in the Faculty of Agricultural & Food Sciences, but also provides strong connections with many academic programs across the University. The Department has 22 tenured or tenure-track professors, 3 full-time instructors, and 16 support staff (8 administrative & 8 technicians). Undergraduate enrolment in the Food Science and Human Nutritional Science programs is approximately 300 students, with an additional 100 graduate students in the Master's
or PhD programs. The undergraduate teaching responsibilities of the department also includes courses for International College ofManitoba (ICM) and Access& Aboriginal Focus Programs.
