- Provide exceptional leadership, mentoring and coaching to the leadership team by leading and facilitating meetings and providing feedback
- Coordinate the development of key performance goals for various departments and organize the framework for projects and initiatives
- Oversee daily operations of the distribution centre and key performance indicators to ensure superior performance
- Partner with Human Resources to identify education, training and development needs to build the bench and develop business strategies relating to performance, career path and succession planning
- Work closely with the leadership team to focus on creating a blue culture and to ensure culture initiatives continue to shape the overall work environment of the distribution centre
- Drive a safety culture by leading and advising the operations team in the development and maintenance of safety programs to ensure compliance is achieved in all areas including: health and safety, food safety, HACCP and accident/injury reporting
- Ensure customer obligations are met, and exceeded where possible, in regards to inbound and outbound deliveries, on-time arrivals and quality standards
- Manage distribution centre financial records with a strong financial aptitude that includes: developing budgets, forecasting and labour planning
- Spearhead innovative and creative thinking initiatives to solve challenges and to promote productivity gains, reduction of costs and new methods of doing business
- Evaluate and make decisions on key investments such as equipment, infrastructure and talent
- Seek out and explore opportunities to grow or evolve the business by collaborating with customers, community, government and other businesses
- Proven track record providing dedicated customer service excellence through strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional team-building ability and a strong people development background
- Must be able to effectively work with all levels of management and a unionized workforce
- Demonstrated ability to model blue culture behaviours and align business decisions to CORE values
- Fluent knowledge of various distribution concepts and methodologies
- Thorough understanding of warehouse management systems
- Must have excellent decision-making, organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Strong computer systems knowledge (MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed
- University degree and/or post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years superior management experience in a distribution/warehouse setting
- Candidate must be willing to relocate to Edmonton or surrounding area
- Frequent travel required: up to 50% travel time throughout Canada

Overview:
The Edmonton Distribution Centre has an opening for a General Manager. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivating and energetic individual, who enjoys the challenges of working in a high potential, fast-paced environment with frequent workload changes and competing demands.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for crafting and implementing a comprehensive business strategy designed to create stability and efficiency, while ensuring exceptional customer service. You will be responsible for providing direct management to key functional managers as they coordinate work across various departments in pursuit of organizational goals and targets while maintaining a consistent standard of safety, accuracy and efficiency. You will be required to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with both internal and external key stakeholders. The General Manager is responsible for the development of a strong internal culture that retains key employees and encourages professional development.
