Education Coordinator - Canada - Bandology
Description
Bandology is a proud Canadian non-profit dedicated to supporting more music for more kids via education, collaboration and community.We are looking to hire someone in the role of Education Corodinator to work collaboratively with the Bandology team to provide the business both administrative and instructional support for summer camps and participate in the development of new camp and workshop programming.
Responsible for music educational programming and development, including camps, workshops, music parties and other initiativesOversee the development of resources for music students and educators, both independently and in collaboration with staff, board members and community partners
Manage podcast programming including managing those connections, conducting the interviews and ensuring they are recorded, reviewed and uploaded to our platforms
Act as the lead for new camp/workshop development and ensure that all participants have a fun and fulfilling experience
Act as the lead for a week of Band Camp and ensure that all campers (kids and teens) have a fun and fulfilling experience
Coordinate, schedule and support the camp music director, sectional instructors, guests and music mentors for all camps
Review, monitor and update the website as needed
Participate in three weeks of Band Camp in July/August and ensure that all campers have a fun and fulfilling experience
Enrolled or graduated from a post-secondary program specializing in education or music education or similar
~ Ability to perform and instruct, at a high levels on percussion instruments, wind band instruments and/or piano
~2-5 years direct experience working in education, private lessons and/or camp
~ Camp experience, either as a camper or counsellor
~ Proven ability to lead and direct a team in a camp situation, working with both paid staff and volunteer mentors
~ First aid/CPR training with current certification would be a bonus
Excellent writing, research and interviewing skills
Comfortable with public speaking, both in person and online
Excellent communication skills and ability to use compassion and tact when dealing with campers, parents and other community members
Comfortable working independently from your own personal space (Bandology is a virtual office) with regular in-person meetings and events (as appropriate) with access to your own computer with reliable internet connection
Experience with Google suite of programs, social media and public speaking
A wide base of transferable skills including organization, time management, self regulation, collaboration and leadership
A background in instrumental music, whether from music class, piano lessons or personal interest
A passion for music and a belief in the long-term value of music education
A police check and adherence to our vaccination policy (all staff must be fully vaccinated) will be required for the successful candidate
Bandology is dedicated to providing quality job experiences that allow young people the opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills in a safe and welcoming space, as well as the chance to pursue different aspects and applications of their passion for music and music education.
Remote work utilizing regular Zoom meetings and a central Google Drive for filesAttendance at the weekly in-person meeting in Oakville as well as additional training and regular community events and workshops, which often occur on weekends
All staff work together collaboratively during Band Camp weeks (July 8-12, 22-26 and July 29 to August 2) and are expected to attend in person for the full week
