    We are currently seeking a Junior Civil/Structural Designer for our Power Division. A junior Designer provides direct support to the Civil/Structural Engineering Department. Candidates will perform design and technical calculations, construction details as well as drawings and diagrams related to project requirements. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    Perform design and technical calculations, material lists, construction details, and drawings for equipment support structures relating to the overhead and underground transmission/distribution system
    Prepare complex and complete drawings using AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil 3D or Microstation InRoads
    Complete structural design calculations and drawings for engineers review for equipment support structures and foundations
    Prepare technical specifications for project design materials
    Communicate with other design disciplines to complete multidiscipline design tasks.
    The candidate will be capable of committing to and maintaining project timelines while working on multiple projects simultaneously
    The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills)
    Graduation from an accredited institute program in Civil Engineering Technology or Technician with OACETT Certification
    Minimum 2+ years of relevant design/drafting experience in consulting and/or utility environment
    Must be proficient in AutoCAD and/or Microstation
    Knowledge and working experience related to civil/structural design codes
    Computer knowledge in MS Office Suite
    Previous experience in the design of heavy industrial structures (steel, concrete, wood, masonry), preferably in the power distribution industry, and Consulting Engineering experience is desirable
    Knowledge of electrical substations, transmission lines, and associated steel structures and concrete foundations is an asset
    Working experience in 3D design software would be considered an asset
