UOHI hosts a multidisciplinary team of Clinicians, Basic Scientists, Epidemiologists, and Data Analysts that work collaboratively to conduct research to improve the health of people living with cardiovascular diseases in Canada and worldwide.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide methodological expertise for the planning, design and implementation of observational cohort, casecontrol or crosssectional research studies using internal or ICES data that inform clinical and public health practice and conform to the highest standards of responsible conduct in research.
  • Assist in the preparation of a comprehensive data dictionary for Cardiocore data.
  • Assist in managing the daytoday operations of multiple epidemiologic studies and help ensure study compliance with all policies related to data access and use for clinical research.
  • Contribute collaboratively to the interpretation of study data, reporting and drafting of publications for study data as required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of new methodologic developments and research in cardiovascular disease and clinical epidemiology.
  • Performs other supportive duties as required.

Required qualifications:


Minimum of a Master's Degree in epidemiology or population/public health (with a focus on quantitative methods), supplemented by at least 2 years of recent related work experience.

Experience with national survey, large administrative and clinical databases.

Thorough understanding of epidemiological principles, research methodologies (e.g., study design, sampling, bias, confounding), data management, statistical methods and key concepts (e.g., regression modeling and adjustment for confounding).

Demonstrated understanding of research ethics, confidentiality, and privacy regulations.

Ability to identify and analyze trends and changes in disease incidence and prevalence rates, outcomes, risk factors, and other relevant epidemiological measures.

Demonstrated scientific writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated skill in analyzing and evaluating a wide variety of epidemiological data.

Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills and ability to time manage and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic research environment.

Demonstrated attention-to-detail and ability to work collaboratively to solve complex problems.


Preferred qualifications:

Knowledge and experience with ICES data. Knowledge of coding and conduct and interpretation of statistical analyses in standard statistical software (e.g., SAS, STATA, R).
