    The Senior Corporate Accountant is an integral part of the corporate finance team who assists in overseeing the general accounting of the group in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and takes an active role in monthly close reporting and analysis, financial reporting and consolidations, ad hoc reporting, and working on automation projects. The Senior Corporate Accountant is also responsible for reviewing balance sheets of the non-corporate operations and providing feedback and assisting the Corporate Finance Manager on key initiatives as required. This role is a one-year contract.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the review of non-corporate entities balance sheet reconciliations, and provide meaningful comments and questions on the results of the balance sheet reviews
    • Prepare/review legal entity financial statements for compliance and tax reporting
    • Assist in the preparation of budget templates and analysis process
    • Assist in the preparation of year-end and statutory audits including preparing support for note disclosures, coordination of auditor requests, and reviewing audited financial statements while identifying inappropriate disclosures and accounting framework applications
    • Take initiative to identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls with a focus on building efficiency and effectiveness and present to the Corporate Finance Manager for consideration
    • Assist in process improvement initiatives, including automation
    • Responsible for the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and quarterly subsidiary financial statements in accordance with
    • International Financial Reporting Standards which includes a variety of complexities such as varying ownership percentages, and numerous entities
    • Liaises with other members on the team to resolve outstanding accounting issues and ensure accounting policies are being implemented correctly
    • Assist with transaction support analysis for assessing accounting and business implications
    • Communicate effectively with team and accounting staff who are in various other countries
    • Assists the corporate finance manager and corporate finance director as required for any adhoc request
    • Preparation of the month-end close process including processing period and year-end journal entries, preparing supplemental reports on expenses by department, consolidating results from hotel reporting, and assisting hotel controllers with various entries and accounting guidance
    • Provides high level and meaningful analysis of month-end and year to date results for management reporting and financial reporting including analysis to budget and analysis to the prior year

    Job Requirements:

    • Strong understanding of accounting principles, specifically International Financial Reporting Standards
    • Has or is pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (or equivalent)
    • Prior working experience with SAP or another ERP would be an asset
    • Intermediate Microsoft word and excel (v-lookup, pivot tables)
    • Ability to work under time constraints and meet tight deadlines.
    • Knowledge of financial and internal controls
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
    • Financial reporting experience
    • Exceptional analytical skills and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to plan, organize and manage work with minimal supervision
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
