    What is the Opportunity?


    The EHS Advisor will be responsible to actively promote a health, safety, and environmental culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecon's Health, Safety, and Environmental Manual. We have multiple positions open to service current and future work throughout Western Canada. This position is a full-time opportunity that will be project based.

    What You'll Do Here:


    1. Employee health and safety orientations.
    2. Site-specific safety orientation to workers, owners, and clients.
    3. Training supervisors and staff on Aecon Health, Safety, and Environmental Manual.
    4. Training employees in traffic protection, traffic control person, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response.
    5. Coordinate training such as WHMIS, First Aid, Propane, etc.
    6. Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
    7. Conduct behavioral observation in the workplace.
    8. Update Material Safety Data Sheets as required.
    9. Develop workplace plans – such as emergency evacuations, fire emergencies, traffic controls, fall protection.
    10. Distribution of safety material, supplies, and equipment.
    11. Safety presentations to clients.
    12. Promoting the Aecon safety system to potential industry clients.
    13. Participate as a management member of Joint Health and Safety Committees.
    14. Conduct studies and analyze accident trends.
    15. Inspect project facilities and recommend corrective actions.
    16. Coordinate activities of site-safety coordinators.
    17. Working with the Claims Administrator assists with workers' compensation claims and associated activities.
    18. Develop return to work and modified work programs.
    19. Accident/Incident investigations.
    20. Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.
    21. Liaise with Government agencies.
    22. Prepare and assist with external safety audits.
    23. Coordination of environmental issues.
    24. Gather and provide statistical information to estimating for tender packages.

    What you bring to the Team:


    Experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role. Strong knowledge of OH&S legislation and regulations. Strong knowledge of other Regulations specific to the construction industry. Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with operational teams including subcontractors, craft, and project management. Ability to work accurately under pressure. Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive. Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines. Ability to work with others as a team. Valid driver's license. The expected pay range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000.
