    About the role

    Hybrid Field Service Technician II / Hazardous Waste Technician II

    Covanta is seeking a skilled and experienced Hybrid Field Service Technician II / Hazardous Waste Technician II to join our team. The successful candidate will have completed CES Field Services Technician I training or possess equivalent experience. The primary responsibility of this role is the clean-up and transportation of both Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste. The Field Service Technician / Hazardous Waste Technician II will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper identification, treatment, and processing of waste, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.

    Responsibilities:

  • Drive a commercial vehicle to safely pick up and transport waste to designated locations, ensuring compliance with scheduled appointments, and following all TDG and relevant regulations.
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Secure cargo prior to and during transport.
  • Lead a team on small daily confined space projects, communicating effectively with the Hazardous Materials Supervisor and onsite customers.
  • Work daily in confined spaces, utilizing various tools such as mechanics, industrial hygiene instrumentation, pneumatic and electrical tools, and others as needed.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to pressure washers, hand trucks, forklifts, power tools, hydro blast equipment, skid loader, specialty vacuum equipment, etc., with minimal direct supervision.
  • Perform hazardous and non-hazardous waste treatment methods and processes.
  • Perform or coordinate sampling, lab analysis, and data entry as required.

    • Requirements:

  • Completed CES Field Services Technician I training or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience required, preferably in environmental services
  • Valid Class G Drivers License at a minimum.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while adhering to company policies, OHSA requirements, and all local, provincial, and federal laws.
  • Motor Vehicle Report, previous employment, and criminal history records review.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to lift/move 50+ lbs
  • High School diploma required
