Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the incumbent is responsible for:

Slating patients for procedures within Diagnostic Imaging Child Health using computerized (RIS/EPR/eChart) and manual systems. Acting independently and using judgement in scheduling and making changes on an emergency basis.
Communicating the potential time and date of the procedures and any and all updates to cases to the Clinical Resource Nurse, Charge Technologists, Pediatric Radiologists and other stakeholders (when required).
Acting as a liaison with physicians, wards, clinics, nursing stations, Child and Family Services, as well as other hospitals on a routine basis for scheduling and relaying pre-procedural instructions and ensuring all pre-procedural requirements are complete.
Providing reception functions for the front desk and greeting and directing patients and their family members.

Experience

Two years previous experience as a Unit Clerk, preferably on a surgical or special care unit.
Previous experience slating procedures via a computerized system.
Previous experience using the Radiology Information System (RIS), eChart and EPR preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Complete high school education, Manitoba standards.

SPECIAL TRAINING:

Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program required.
Medical terminology (pass mark 75%).
Knowledge of International Classification of Disease 10th preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

Typing/keyboard skills 30 wpm.
Demonstrated proficiency in a Windows based environment.
Must have good communication skills with diverse groups with competing interests and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with constant change.
Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work effectively under considerable stress and maintain accurate performance.
