- With the supervision of classroom teachers, assisting teachers in each Childcare classroom to perform general supervision and care of a classroom, interact with the children to provide support, watch safety of the children.
- Assist teachers in the planning and preparing activities that encourage children's creativity and learning, and promote each child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Role models appropriate behaviours and attitudes, supporting the mission of The Learning Corner Childcare Centre.
- Learning and assisting teachers to safely escort children to and from school, and on trips or walks outside the centre.
- Participate in special events put on by the Childcare Centre.
- Assist with facility cleanliness, toy/equipment disinfecting and organization.
- Ensure that all information about children, families, staff, visitors, and volunteers are strictly confidential; and that activity records and statistics are stored in a secure location.
- Attend and participate actively as required. Learning and performing other duties and skills as needed.
- This position is a temporary full-time position based on 35 hours per week for 8 weeks.
- The shifts will be 7.5 hours per day which includes a 1⁄2 hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required.
- Ability to lift/carry children, stand for extended periods of time and work at the height of children.
- This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria: Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment.Is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*: and,Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.*International students are not eligible.
