    Sacred Waters Developments (SWD) is the development corporation for the combined KKS Nations – Katzie, Kwantlen, and Semiahmoo, created to catalyze opportunities for Economic and Social growth that will provide benefits for the next 7 generations of community members. Through SWD, the Nations are taking leadership in the
    acquisition and development of lands by identifying opportunities and bringing together strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders to catalyze meaningful projects that will serve their communities and the greater community as a whole. This foundational and transformational work is being done with specific intention and attention on capacity building, as well as sustainable development practices, principles, products and
    Innovation.
    We are now looking for an enthusiastic Development Coordinator to support us in effectively meeting our project goals. The role will report directly to the Director of Development and will actively support the team in delivering a diverse portfolio of development projects.

    The Development Coordinator will have the opportunity to contribute to Development projects from inception through to final occupancy. This will include support the project leads while continuously collaborating with our external project partners, and our colleagues in Finance, Operations, Business Development, and other teams at Sacred Waters Developments.This role is key in supporting the teams with organizing large complex planning and development projects. This opportunity offers lots of learning and growth potential within a fast-paced environment.

    What you'll do in the role:

    The Development Coordinator works in conjunction with the Directors and Executives on multiple projects at various stages of planning and real estate development. This includes assisting the team in researching, reporting, and analyzing information in relation to planning and real estate development opportunities, in addition to coordinating consultants, tracking project documentation, as well as supporting financing applications. There is also opportunity for the coordinator to be involved in strategic planning discussions as Sacred Waters Developments sets its strategic goals and growth.

    Requirements for the role:

    We are seeking an individual who is interested in learning, growing, and working on meaningful partnerships to support values-based planning and development work. Suitable candidates would be efficient at managing a variety of tasks in a fast-paced work environment, with an ability to take initiative to new tasks and responsibilities in a start-up environment where there is opportunity to create and evolve processes.

    Additional experience may include:
    • 1-3 years of project coordination experience within a land development, planning or construction environment.
    • Bachelor's degree or diploma, or equivalent experience, in marketing, sales, property development, urban planning, or related field.
    • Knowledge of municipal review and approval process.
    • Previous working experience with social purpose projects such as BC Housing and CMHC is an asset.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of the Real Estate market in Metro Vancouver.
    • Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
    • Required a valid BC Driver's License.
    • Experience working with First Nations or non-profit organizations is an asset.
    • Knowledge and experience with innovative construction methods such as Prefab, Mass Timber, or Modular is an asset.

    As Coast Salish people, the relationship between the Katzie, Kwantlen, and Semiahmoo First Nations is based on a shared language, similar cultural and spiritual practices, a strong connection to the land, and broad kinship ties that stretch back millennia. Individual members of each community will often have family ties connecting them to neighboring Nations. In modern times, the kinship ties between the three Nations continues to shape their relationship to each other and the larger world around them. For several years, Katzie, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo have worked to strengthen their working relationship, advance joint economic development opportunities within the shared territory.

    The three Nations are committed to cooperation and further strengthening their working relationship to better advance their shared rights and title interests. This important work is an essential part of honoring the commitment and sacrifices of the Nations' ancestors and ensuring that future generations will be able to live happy, secure, and prosperous lives on their traditional and unceded lands.
