- Systematic ESG data gathering from company materials (e.g., sustainability reports, company websites, annual reports).
- Taking ownership of production targets and delivering the research within timelines outlined in the processes and quality standards.
- Maintaining oversight of team performance and research quality, and addressing any issues as needed.
- Supporting the ratings team by the means of thought leadership and research publications, methodology reviews, and ESG market developments monitoring.
- Participation in quality assurance procedures. Support implementation of quality control measures.
- Providing research team support to colleagues on ISS' Sales team and Account Management team as needed.
- 5+ years' of relevant professional experience. Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, work experience in a sustainability-related field (environment, labor issues, human rights, etc.), finance and financial services, accounting, healthcare, and general business.
- Management experience.
- Bachelor's or master's degree. An MBA is also desirable.
- Excellent English language skills, both written and oral (proficiency in additional languages is a bonus).
- Integrity, organizational skills, attention to detail, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

ISS ESG Investor Research is seeking an ESG Ratings Research Sector Lead for our healthcare sector, reporting to the Sector Head. This position supports the collection and analysis of company ESG data. The successful candidate will be part of the Healthcare sector team, will focus on the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative environmental and social data from corporate disclosures to support our market-leading Corporate Rating, and will provide related management support to a team of research analysts.
The ESG Ratings Lead is responsible for driving efficient and high-quality research and ratings processes, managing research projects with an industry or thematic focus, enhancing our current transparent assessment and ratings methodology, and making contributions to our thought leadership and ESG expertise. The ESG Ratings Lead will be responsible for conducting research to evaluate a company's sustainability performance. This research will assess company performance in a number of sustainability-related areas, including working standards and conditions, environmental management, emission and resource consumption data as well as several Healthcare sector-specific key issues. This work involves reviewing company documents such as sustainability reports, annual reports and corporate websites, identifying relevant topics, and analyzing them based on our proprietary methodology. Qualitative and quantitative analysis will be used to generate individual rating reports as well as studies on selected topic- or Healthcare sector-related sustainability trends as needed.
This person is also responsible for providing management support to a team of ESG Ratings analysts. This includes oversight of, and accountability for, team performance; professional guidance and career development support for team members; and related administrative tasks and duties.
Our ESG research teams are based in Australia, Germany, India, the Philippines, Sweden, the UK, Canada and the US. The successful candidate will work both independently as well as collaboratively with the team and colleagues across our global offices. Working in a dynamic market and international environment, we put great emphasis on cooperation and offer a welcoming, collegial working atmosphere.
