- Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs
- Communicate and collaborate closely with Production Supervisor to achieve set goals for the area.
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
- Evaluate, dissemble, reassemble, repair, install new equipment, pumps, gearboxes, automation, etc.
- Notify supervisor and plant manager of recurring equipment malfunctions, corrective action taken, and of quality problems, or supplies needed.
- Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
- Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
- Suggest improvements and upgrades as needed
- Fabricate guarding, railing, supports as required
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
- Interface with all production departments, always with a service attitude in mind.
- Interface with outside contractors to complete projects outside of normal maintenance requirements.
- Participate in the "Mechanic on Call" Program
- Excellent hands-on mechanical skills
- Solid understanding of powertrain equipment (i.e., pumps, motors, and gearing)
- Knowledgeable about industrial control circuits, VFD's and PLC's a plus.
- Knowledgeable about explosion-proof conditions is a plus
- Reading, writing, and math skills
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 65 lbs
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, squat, kneel, bend, climb, and crawl
- Some Cutting, Welding and Fabrication Skills
- Ability to drive a fork lift work off of scissor and snorkel lifts
- Ability to use precision alignment tools, dial indicators, refine methods in precision assembly
- Basic ability to operate tool room equipment
- Ability to schedule and manage tasks according to promised timeline. Project management
- Ability to perform basic internet and literature research to identify parts for machine repair
- Able to run a pipe threader and perform extensive plumping jobs
- EPAC knowledge an asset
- Minimum 5 years prior industrial maintenance
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Formal or informal Mechanic Program training, machine repair, electrical wiring, circuit building

JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a talented and reliable Industrial Mechanic to join our successful maintenance team. In this position, the prime responsibility is to support production by preserving the condition and functionality of our production equipment. Further, to use expert skills for mechanical assembly and preventative maintenance, along with light welding and fabrication in special projects and improvements. Requirements include but are not limited to extensive knowledge and experience with preventive maintenance, keeping inventory of spare parts, troubleshooting, repair and installation of pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, bearings, pulleys, sprockets and other mechanical elements.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter requiring little to no supervision. To excel in this position, you must be a problem-solver with exceptional attention to detail, sense of urgency, service orientation and organizational skills. Able to work from drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches, and apply own ideas in design. Personal communication skills and ability to work with a variety of different personalities as a team, are a necessity.
