    Description

    Director of Children and Family Ministries

    Duties
    Lead the Ottawa Mandarin and East Gate (OMEGA) Kid?s Ministry by being a liaison
    between the various member churches of the International Community of Alliance
    Churches (ICAC), for children?s ministry and practice


    Currently:
    East Gate, Ottawa
    Mandarin, Filipino Community, French Ministry, and Mt. Zion (Spanish).
    Provide a safe, loving, and nurturing learning environment in the classroom that promotes
    faith development.
    Recruit, administer, schedule and minister to large teams of volunteers.
    Oversee all children?s ministry (through recruited leaders) such as: Sunday School,
    Nursery, Hallway monitoring, STEM club, Plan to Protect?, Play Group, and Summer
    Day Camp. (should you explain what STEM club and Plan to Protect are?)
    Organize special activities/events for families.
    Choose and maintain curriculum, mentor and support teachers in the preparation of
    lessons as needed.
    Ensure opportunities for children to hear and understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
    Work independently and also as a member of the pastoral and children?s ministry teams.
    Able to teach and relate to children and their families.
    Conduct regular visits and phone calls with the children's families to develop and maintain
    positive and Christ-centered relationships.?Offer assistance when appropriate and
    encourage/equip families as much as possible.
    Regularly attend church services, weekly staff meetings, retreats, etc. and participate in
    church family life such as baby & wedding showers, church picnics etc.
    Follow and implement Plan to Protect?(P2P) guidelines. Maintain volunteer records and
    P2P training, police checks etc. Administer discipline, and peace-making practices.
    Create regular?written, photo and/or video ads on the church website and social media
    platforms, neighbourhood mailings etc. to invite children to attend Children?s
    programming.
    Respond to all Children?s related issues and offer guidance.
    Give verbal report at weekly staff meeting, and biannual reports to the Elder?s boards.
    Attend biannual Alliance regional meetings, the Local Network of Children's leaders and
    occasionally attend District Conference or the Alliance Assembly.
