    What You'll Do

    Purpose of the role


    Working to the Head of Retail Learning & Development, the Instructional Designer will partner with internal stakeholders to design and develop learning content in support of our 2030 strategic vision.


    This role plays a crucial role in positively impacting employee success and engagement, organizational effectiveness, operational efficiency, as well as Specsavers Canada culture by creating engaging, accessible, and inclusive training resources to address the diverse training needs of our learners.

    The Instructional Designer role is dynamic, fast-paced, and continually evolving.

    The role draws on an advanced knowledge of instructional design, technology-enhanced learning and adult learning principles to ideate, design/develop, evaluate and refine inclusive, engaging, accessible and effective learning activities across the Specsavers Canada Retail pipeline.

    Success in this position requires a passion for learning and development and a genuine enthusiasm for employee success. This role brings an innovative perspective to learning development and design, ensuring our content remains relevant and impactful.

    Key ResponsibilitiesDesign develop, storyboard and build high-quality learning products such as eLearning and live virtual and in-person learning solutions to support ongoing skills and knowledge development for Retail Team MembersCreate learning resources, instructional materials, participant and facilitation guides, presentations, job aids, and other learning resources and reference materialsBecome Super-User and Administrator for Articulate 360 and future learning design software accountsBecome Subject Matter Expert and additional administrator for Learning Management System (LMS)Provide technical support for learning delivery (LMS, virtual learning rooms, collaboration channels etc); investigate and resolve technical issues associated with learning systems and toolsDesign and moderate virtual learning rooms and collaboration channelsAct as a technical reviewer and during the development and production of digital learning assetsDesign and produce quarterly presentation pack in support of Enterprise-wide communicationsEvaluate and optimize current learning technology used for self-led learning paths designed for Partners and their store colleaguesProactively work with Clinical Support Consultants and Regional Relationship Managers to ensure a 'one team' approach to Partner and Store Development, where appropriate.

    What We're Looking For


    EssentialUniversity degree or specialized degree/diploma in Adult Education or Instructional DesignExcellent knowledge of e-learning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Rise, Vyond, Camtasia, Adobe Creative etc)Proficient adopting a Systems Approach to TrainingStrong graphics design background and understanding of visual mediaDemonstrated proficiency using training technologies to produce a variety of learning products including eLearning, classroom training materials, blended learning programs, microlearning, learning guides, webinars, and videos.

    Skilled in virtual classroom production tools/skills (MS Teams)Proficiency in MS Office and excellent skills in MS Word, PowerPoint and ExcelExcellent written and presentation skills5+ years of experience in learning and development, e-Learning development, and instructional design roles, in a Retail contextStrong customer obsession and deep interest in the personal and professional development of othersAbility to plan, prioritize and deliver a heavy workload in a flexible manner.

    Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving and growing business.
    Ability to adapt to short notice change.
    Ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
