Description
JOB DESCRIPTIONDescription:
Candidates will be working to integrate and develop virtual ECUs for one of our top automotive client's in the GTA. They will be simulating how smaller automotive components will work together and get them ready to interact. They will be gathering customer/stakeholder requirements and be a key link between the Plant Modeling, Tools, and other stakeholder teams.
• Create virtual controller models to be used across different simulations
• Create, maintain and test virtual controller components such as HWIO, RTOS, communication models, etc.
• Obtain, develop & parameterize sub-system models, such as sensors and actuators, and ECU behavioral models
• Work with development engineers to understand new feature requirements, address issues, and ensure proper implementation
• Integrate Plant models and other ECU models into a dynamic virtual simulation
• Create and maintain detailed documents for each release
• Provide support for released simulations and assist with user testing and troubleshooting
• Provide technical support to other team members

Ok fit
oOther industry experience (outside of Automotive) is acceptable, but not Aerospace experience. Industrial experience is acceptable (John Deere for example).
Not a fit
oControl System design without full virtualization modelling in Simulink.
Should candidates from technical schools that have specific programs in AutoDrive, EcoCAR and/or Virtual ECU Development. These candidates can be consider with minimal experience from co-ops or post grad. Below are some schools that might have these programs
oAutoDRIVE post-secondary institutions training/courses.
oEcoCAR University of Waterloo and McMaster University, maybe U of A
Haves:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Computer Science, or Mechanical preferred)
• 3+ years of software engineering experience focused on system simulation, integration
• Adept experience with Matlab and Simulink in context of plant model development and integration and basic usage of additional simulation tools (e.g. GT-Power, Amesim).
NON NEGOTIABLE: experience creating control system models in Simulink. This is a MUST
• Experience coding in Embedded C
Nice To Haves:
• Experience with embedded controls software and the automated software build processes including familiarity with gcc compiler, gdb debugger, Eclipse and ETAS INCA calibration tools
• Familiarity with automotive communication technologies such as CAN, LIN, and SPI
