TransEd Valley line LRT is looking for a Human Resources Partner/Generalist to join our team of Rail Professionals. In this role, you will be
supporting the head of human resources
with different functions of human resources including but not limited to; recruitment and selection, employee records, employee relations, performance reviews, leave administration, payroll, employee benefits and health programs, ensuring a high level of employee job satisfaction.

TransEd Valley Line LRT is the first phase of the Valley Line project in Edmonton.

Connecting Millwoods to downtown Edmonton, the valley line allows commuters to go from the South East of Edmonton to anywhere the LRT stops.


Roles and Responsibilities:


Recruitment

  • Work with business leaders to meet talent goals and engage in talent management process
  • Lead recruitment efforts by posting, screening resumes, conducting phone prescreens, arranging interviews, conducting interviews as requested and performing reference checks
  • Prepare onboarding package and perform HR orientation for newly hired employees, provide training and coaching to personnel as required.

Payroll and compensation

  • Utilize payroll management system to assist with payroll functions including answering employee questions, fixing timecard errors and recommending solutions
  • Process overpayment letters and facilitate other payroll corrections and adjustments
  • Knowledge of/ability to learn other payroll processing functions as required

Employee Engagement

  • Assist with planning and execution of special events such as organizationwide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and other celebrations.
  • Support business leaders as needed, with design and the execution of engagement strategies and rewards and recognition programs

Employee Relations

  • Advocate for employees' success through endtoend experiences that help employees feel fully engaged in the work they do and valued for who they are
  • Serve as first point of escalation for employee concerns and support employee queries and complaints with discretion and expertise
  • Advise leaders and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, compensation and benefit programs and collective agreements
  • Support investigations, discipline administration and grievances, by scheduling discussions, taking minutes, compiling evidence and writing investigation summaries

Performance Management

  • Collaborate with business leaders and managers to organize annual performance reviews
  • Track the progress and completion of performance management cycle for all departments
  • Prepare training materials and educate managers on the performance management process.

HR Administrative

  • Maintain accurate and uptodate employee files, records, and documentation using HRIS system.
  • Analyze data and metrics across the organization, highlighting trends and recommending/driving solutions, as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update HR forms, templates, SOPs, trackers and other relevant tools.
  • Oversee benefits and leave administration, including STD/LTD claims, leave of absences, WCB claims, RRSP, Pension etc.
  • Maintain reports, trackers and processes as required to regulatory compliance
  • Support other HR administrative functions as required

What you will bring to the team

  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of HR experience as a generalist or across different functions
  • Experience in a unionized environment will be an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
