    Description

    1 Full-Time Position

    We offer primary health care services including prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Our diverse team comprises health professionals, educators, and support workers who blend traditional Indigenous and modern care models, emphasizing holistic health and community development principles.

    This role is community-focused, backing a client-centered inter-professional team setup to ensure holistic care for a specific WNHAC client group. The position entails delivering nursing services within the scope of practice set by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

    This role falls under the Ontario Nurses Association Bargaining unit.

    NOTE: The role involves traditional practices such as cultural ceremonies and using sacred medicines like tobacco, sweetgrass, sage, and cedar within the workspace.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
    • Ready to work within full scope of practice, carrying out delegated acts via medical directives
    • Proficiency in immunization administration, venipuncture, wound care, and advanced nursing assessment skills advantageous
    • Proven capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team effectively
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – ability to engage with healthcare professionals, community members, traditional helpers, and leadership
    • Knowledge of holistic health, demonstrated cultural competencies, experience in an Indigenous organization; familiarity with Anishinaabemowin language a plus
    • Willingness and ability to travel, engaging significantly in community-based activities
    • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle necessary
    • Evidence of immunization compliance as per policy a must
    • Recent criminal records/vulnerable sector check obligatory
    • Dedication to continuous training and professional development related to job demands
    • Positive demeanor and ability to serve as a role model for a healthy lifestyle
