Life Sciences Leader

Arup is searching for an experienced professional to lead their Science buildings sector team in Canada. This position is open in multiple Canadian offices: Toronto, Montreal, or Calgary. The ideal candidate should bring technical expertise, business development skills, and excel in client relationship management to support and expand the Science-based opportunities within the company.
Our preferred candidate will exhibit strong leadership qualities, exceptional management skills, and technical proficiency relevant to the Science industry. They will play a crucial role in driving the growth of the life science market in Canada and the broader Americas region. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this individual will actively contribute to the overall management of Arup's members in Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular contact with key clients and partners while actively seeking new relationships, sharing information, understanding needs, managing expectations, and exploring new opportunities.
- Network effectively to bring in new projects and partnerships, establishing Arup as a leader in the Science and research markets.
- Represent Arup at the highest levels nationally and internationally, showcasing our Science expertise and positioning us as innovators and preferred partners in the industry.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for the Science business aligned with Arup's regional and global strategies.
- Establish and achieve financial performance metrics.
- Foster a culture of learning within the organization and make strategic decisions to enhance team performance.
- Act as a liaison for project stakeholders, including clients, partners, and internal teams.
- Manage project meetings and ensure adequate resources, accountability, and financial performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
- Over 15 years of experience in the built environment.
- More than 10 years of project delivery experience in Science sectors like laboratories, R&D facilities, pharmaceuticals, etc.
- Professional Engineering license in Canada.
- Extensive background in management, business development, and strong team leadership skills.
- Proficient in commercial acumen, financial management, and effective communication abilities.
- Knowledge of Canadian Building Codes and Standards applications.
