NATURE OF THE WORK
- Located in a heritage site, a building constructed in 1908, home to 10,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff, Dawson College provides an enriching, vibrant, and stimulating work environment. The incumbent, under the authority of the Director of Facilities Management and with the assistance of a building maintenance manager, will lead a multidisciplinary team composed of technicians and tradespersons with various specialties and levels of experience. The incumbent will also coordinate, supervise, and evaluate in concert with other departments and sectors activities and resources regarding improvements of building's maintenance. This includes and is not limited to all the activities related to the prioritization, planning, coordination, implementation, supervision, evaluation and resources planning regarding the maintenance of buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and equipment's.

- Prepares and manages operating budgets in the related areas of responsibility;
- Evaluates the feasibility and cost of different preventive or corrective maintenance as part of the annual operating budget process;
- Determines human, financial and material resource needs and makes recommendations to their director;
- Ensures that contract management, asset management and building services operating funds management are carried out in accordance with the various legislative, regulatory, and organizational procedures in force within the purview to it sector;
- Leads a multidisciplinary team made up of a manager and support staff;
- Supports the members of their team under their responsibility in compliance with occupational health and safety rules, promotes development and assesses for training and skill enhancement;
- Integrates sound customer service practices to enhance its overall quality;
- Supervises the work and provides technical support to the maintenance team.
- Manages the work team based on the strengths of their members; provides them the tools to go further and uses them to their full potential;
- Participates in selection committees, informs newly hired personnel of their mandates, greets and assists in their integration into the work team, assigns tasks and carries out the evaluation of their performance;
- Manages documents and systems for the preventative maintenance programs related to buildings, grounds, and mechanical / electrical equipment;
- Identifies different methods and processes, programs or products that enable effective maintenance/repair and its follow up;
- Researches, analyses and recommends equipment specifications for major capital purchases;
- Identifies different methods and processes, programs or products that enable effective monitoring of energy consumption and water consumption;
- Analyses and evaluates "repairs vs replacement" of specialized equipment;
- Requests bids, negotiates and inspects the state of maintenance and repair work performed by the external contractors;
- Acts as department liaison to the service contract provider and for the assessment of work requests prior to job execution;
- Plans, screens, coordinates, supervises and verifies the work carried out by the employees in their sector of activity.
- Prepares and manages the asset maintenance plan for all college buildings, infrastructures and grounds;
- With the assistance of the Building Maintenance Manager, technicians, and tradespersons, coordinates the general corrective and preventive maintenance of all college facilities;
