You will have the opportunity to work with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

Indigenous Services Canada in the Atlantic Region works with 34 First Nation and five Inuit communities as well as many other Indigenous organizations.

There are a wide range of resources and services available to employees including training, social and cultural activities, access to Elders and wellness and mental health supports.

We are seeking positive, innovative individuals who see the benefits of a strengthened relationship with Indigenous communities and wish to support them in realizing their visions.

Indigenous Services Canada employees are expected to perform their duties from a government of Canada physical workplace at least 2–3 days each week, or 40–60% of their regular schedule.

A part-time telework agreement may be discussed and implemented at the time of hiring in accordance with the operational needs of the position to be filled.

Concrete and detailed examples to demonstrate how you meet the qualifications.

Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

*Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization * in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).
*Experience in providing technical and strategic engineering advice to clients, management and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in contract administration.
Experience in the technical evaluation of engineering reports.

Municipal Infrastructure, which is most prevalent to this position, includes – but is not limited to – water systems, wastewater systems, municipal buildings, roads, stormwater infrastructure, and structural mitigation.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
Experience working with First Nations communities.
Experience participating on a project team delivering multi-year projects.
Experience in selecting and overseeing engineering consultants and contractors.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of various water and wastewater treatment processes. Various language requirements

English essential (multiple positions in the directorate)
Knowledge of project management principles for municipal infrastructure projects.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
