THE ROLE:
The team is responsible for the safety and performance testing functions of the lithium-ion batteries.

The Testing group works with the research and development team to assist in determining test procedures, organizing schedules, operating equipment to run tests based on procedures and collecting data results.


Note:
This position is working on-site with all Covid-19 safety protocols in place.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Set up run and monitor standard performance and abuse tests with lithiumion cells using battery test equipment. Regularly collect test results and complete data entry into reports / databases.
  • Follow equipment operating and health/safety procedures. Assist in the development of new test procedures and support external safety audits (UL, UN, ISO).
  • Coordinate with testing team to process incoming cells, complete all requested tests in queue and safely dispose of cells.

  • Pay close attention to details, work with accuracy and report irregularities in the test when noted.
  • Assist in troubleshooting common test set up/cell failure issues and perform simple equipment maintenance.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area (labelling and sorting, removing old items, tracking inventory).

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Some work experience in a testing or research environment preferred. A diploma in a technical field (physical, chemical, data sciences) is an asset, but not mandatory.
  • Good manual dexterity and basic mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Proven experience with computers (MS Office). Familiarity with data entry and collection with databases is an asset
  • Experience or knowledge with equipment such as environmental chambers, power supplies, load banks, multimeters, DAQs, thermocouples, etc. is an asset
  • Is eager to learn new skills and can adapt in a rapidly changing environment. Willing to assist in performing atypical, experimental tasks with experienced technicians, engineers, and scientists.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work under mínimal supervision when required.
  • Have a keen attention to detail; strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
