Additionally, we prioritize managing noise levels to ensure safe and pleasant travel experiences.

    Position Overview

    The Environmental Specialist with expertise in archaeology at YVR plays a crucial role in developing and implementing the airport's archaeological program. Responsibilities include conducting environmental assessments, providing professional advice on archaeological resource planning, and managing development activities while considering the environmental impact. The Specialist also acts as a liaison with various stakeholders to promote sustainable airport development while preserving its heritage.

    Key Responsibilities Include:

    • Offering professional advice on archaeological resource planning for development activities on Sea Island.
    • Conducting audits, assessments, and excavations of archaeological sites.
    • Preparing cultural resources survey reports and ensuring environmental compliance.
    • Developing and implementing YVR's Archaeological Program.
    • Representing the Airport Authority at public meetings and consulting on environmental initiatives.
    • Supervising staff and consultants involved in the program.

    Key Qualifications:

    • University Degree in Archaeology or Anthropology with a specialization in archeology.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in archaeological or environmental resource management.
    • Experience working with local First Nations groups and regulatory bodies.
    • BC driver's license required.
    • Strong communication, presentation, and conflict resolution skills.

    This position is open to internal and external candidates, and previous job performance will be considered for internal applicants.

    Salary Range: $91,587 to $119,696 annually, based on a 37.5-hour work week. Compensation is tailored to individual experience and qualifications.
