    The Haskayne School of Business invites applications for a Qualitative Research Associate.This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

    The Qualitative Research Associate will work on two projects connected to a research program on the social construction of work safety. The aim of this research program is to enhance the understanding of workplace safety by examining its socially constructed nature. exploring how it integrates with broader social and organizational processes and emotional and socio-cultural dimensions in the workplace.

    This part-time fixed term position is for approximately 12 months, with the possibility of extension (pending funding). This position is part of the AUPE bargaining unit. Working conditions involve standard business hours (17.5 hours/week) with portion of work conducted remotely.

    Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

    • Coordinate, organize and monitor project plans, timeline, and deliverables
    • Prepare presentation materials for meetings
    • Organize, attend, and participate in team and stakeholder meetings; document and follow-up
    • Communicate with internal/external stakeholders
    • Ensure project deadlines are met
    • Delegate research activities to research assistants as appropriate
    • Complete ethics submissions, revisions, and annual approvals
    • Work independently with broad directives and minimal supervision
    • Exercise professional judgement and apply problem solving skills to complex issues
    • Coordinate transcription and prepare transcripts for data analysis
    • Compile, clean, and manage qualitative data, mainly from interview transcripts
    • Review and code qualitative data using thematic analysis or similar approaches
    • Determine and document the qualitative analysis strategy
    • Participate in all aspects of the research process, including literature review, data analysis, and publication as required
    • Provide leadership in the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and other publishable products

    Qualifications / Requirements:

    • PhD degree required in a social science or humanities discipline (e.g., sociology, history, anthropology) with demonstrated excellence in qualitative methods (e.g. a thesis using qualitative methodology) is a strong asset
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in qualitative methodology required
    • Experience with historical research an asset
    • Peer-reviewed publications using qualitative methods are required
    • Able to receive direction, and provide support and direction to other members of the team
    • Experience with NVivo or equivalent software for qualitative analysis required
    • Able to solve complex problems
    • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
    • Must be able to work independently and with others as a part of a virtual (e.g., zoom) and in-person team
    • Able to communicate well with colleagues from various disciplines and external collaborators
