    Job Summary

    The Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a Continuing Appointment (Probationary) at the level of Instructor II or III (dependent upon experience).Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or Masters degree, expertise in core research facility management, as well as classroom and laboratory teaching at the post-secondary level. The successful candidate will be assigned to teach technical courses related to core facility operations. This position reports to the Dean's Office, with operational direction from the Director, Science Facilities.Core facility management duties will include oversight and management of shared use of groups of specialized equipment, both in the new, dedicated central research facility in the new Science Commons, as well as at other sites on campus. These facilities presently include advanced microscopy, ultracentrifugation, synthetic biology, magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry and aquatic research equipment and infrastructure, related to investigations in a diverse set of scientific fields. The ideal candidate would possess marketing and research administration experience to help expand the facilities and attract external clients.Teaching duties will be as assigned by the Dean's Office. Preference will be given to candidates with an academic background related to the Departments represented in the Science Commons (Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Physics & Astronomy and/or Psychology). There is an immediate need for classroom and hands-on teaching in the field of Microscopy, including electron (SEM, STEM and TEM and sample preparation), confocal and two-photon microscopy.The University of Lethbridge recognizes that researchers have varying career paths and that career interruptions due to personal circumstances can be part of an excellent academic record.
