    33 CAD Monthly The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position.

    This position is located within a health-care facility, therefore, the successful candidate will be required to provide verification of full vaccination against Covid-19 provided prior to the start date, as required by a provincial health mandate.

    The Research Coordinator will coordinate and oversee research activities to support the work of multiple studies at the Vaccine Evaluation Center (VEC).

    They will work with other staff and students to ensure efficient and coordinated research activities, primarily for qualitative research.

    Responsibilities include participating in study project planning, strategy, and execution with investigators and VEC managers to achieve the VEC's short- and long-term goals as a center of excellence in vaccine research.

    The Research Coordinator reports directly to the Senior Research Coordinators and/or Investigators of the relevant studies. The position is located at BC Children's Hospital Research Institute.
    Provide direct research support to the Study Team's PI, in consultation with research partners and other agencies.

    Coordinate communication and meetings with multiple sources and individuals such as research team members, data providers and stewards, research assistants and students, health professional and community organizations, and research collaborators.

    Manage the preparation of research funding applications, including: research design, modification and development; and for new research proposals.

    Prepare applications for academic research ethics boards and non-academic review committees, and communicate with committee representatives regarding research ethics issues, as required.

    Conduct literature reviews, including systematic review search and documentation, and other literature-based research.
    Coordinate, facilitate, and conduct participant recruitment, data collection, and management.

    Collect data via the scheduling and conducting of ethnographic observations, in-depth interviews, focus groups and other forms of empirical fieldwork.

    In consultation with the PI and other members of the research team, conduct qualitative data analysis using NVivo analysis software.

    Train and supervise research assistants and student for transcription and deductive data coding, and communicate expectations when delegating assignments.

    Monitor, update, and report on project budget and forecasts.
    Prepare and deliver presentations for health professionals, academic conferences, and community-based events.
    Conduct other general research duties as required.

    Delays in planning of resources for a study can delay the study start and cause the VEC to lose the ability to participate in studies that are competitive enrollment or studies that are time sensitive.

    Routine work does not require daily supervision but general supervision is provided by the study investigators and senior research coordinators.

    Coordinates the activities of the field staff working on the project (research assistants, nurses, students, volunteers).
    Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own - Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
    Master's degree in relevant discipline preferred (medical sociology or anthropology, public health research, or communication studies).

    • Training and experience in qualitative methodologies, especially ethnographic, grounded theory methods and communitybased approaches.
    • Experience in working with multidisciplinary, multisite research teams and collaborative communitybased projects an asset.
    • Knowledge of vaccination, immunology, information behavior, and sex/gender issues related to health behaviour is essential.
    • Knowledge of community health issues and experience with qualitative methodology is essential.
    • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, social issues, and services is preferred.
    • Experience with preparing and submitting applications academic research ethics boards preferred.
    • An understanding of and sensitivity to diversity issues.
    • Excellent research skills, with an ability to conduct analysis of qualitative research data.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret data, determine implications, and provide recommendations to PI.
    • Demonstrated computer literacy with Microsoft Office suite, Endnote and Covidence and database management skills (NVivo).
    • Strong analytical and planning skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
