THE CANADIAN REPORT
(Tuesday April 12)

Well we're getting a little patch of warm weather up here in
the Great White North. Time to start orderin’ the Ice Caps
at Timmy's.

Not much going on up here. Our boy Justin got on the
Interweb yesterday and started explaining the new budget.
Of course, this will give the right wingers a whole lot of stuff
to crab about. Because that’s really the purpose of the right
in Canada and in the US too. They just seem to be diametri-
cally opposed to everything the government is trying to do
to make things better. It's like they've taken the role of the
opposition party and jacked it up with the worst steroids
know to man. | sometimes try and imagine what it would be
like to have that kind of mentality, you know, just hatin’ ev-
erything 24/7. Yuck.

And | gotta say that when it comes to that, the Americans,
well they have raised political animosity to new heights. You
listen to these people and they're perfectly willing to tell you
anything that pops into their heads. But the trouble is when
you've got a population where about half of the people are
completely willing to believe that stuff, you end up normaliz-
ing some of the wierdest behaviour you can imagine.

Like yesterday. | saw a post from some right wing site
talking about Disney and how they regret defying the Don't
Say Gay rule that their governor foisted on them down in
Florida, (where there are a lot of gay people so | don;t get
that at all). Sayin’ that thousands of people are cancelling
their Disney park trips and cruises and burnin’ their Disney
toys. They're even saying that Disney's stock fell by 70%. All
of which is a complete fabrication. But because it's out there
on the Interweb, and a lot of people are now believing that
Disney is some kind of evil empire.

All of these little bits and pieces of lies and misinformation
are piling up higher and higher and pretty soon we're gonna
have a mountain of misinformation that will crush everything
else.

On a more cheerful note, | just finished short story-izing
my second screenplay, called Into The Heat. Looking around
for a good site to post it on. If you have any suggestions, by
all means, let me know.

A Sure Sign Of Spring

Jim Murray · Went outside this morning to do my walking and noticed that this was on my mailbox. These birds must have worked all night on this. Hope they got paid overtime. We think they're Robins. I carefully moved the nest to another location.

If you are not willing to risk, you are not willing to win.

In C.S. Lewis' classic tale - The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (Before Disney got hold of it), there is a classic line where Lucy asks Mr. Beaver about the most powerful creature for good - Aslan the Lion. · She asks (my paraphrase) "Is he safe?" · To which the Mr. Beaver rep ...
