|]
CONSERVATISM IS LITERALLY KILLING US

| have spent most of my adult life working with
people who were very smart. You kinda have to be
smart to be in the advertising business. Because
most of the work there is done in your head.

Because most of the people | worked with
were pretty smart, they also tended to be liberal
in their political views as well.

They believed, like | did, that the conservative
thinkers and doers in the world did most of their
thinking about how to make money. Whereas the
liberal people spent their time thinking about how
to enjoy their lives and cared about all thing things

that would make life good for everyone.

So it stood to reason that as time went by the
powers that be in the corporate world would have
an easier time trying to convince the conservatives

to support their profit-at-all-cost agendas.

And that's where the divide started and has
been widening ever since. Because the conservative
thinking has simply not evolved to match the real
challenges the world is facing.

The status quo, which the conservatives want to
support at all costs, is the exact thing that created
all the challenges that we are facing.

Wherever they are in power in the world,
very little is done or planned to fix all that’s wrong,
especially in the area of energy which is the
largest single source of carbon pollution that we face.

So if the human race doesn’t make it out of
this century, the blame can be placed squarely at the
feet of the corporate business interests and the
conservative lawmakers who do their bidding.

And this, quite simply, is the best reason | can think
of to take them out of and keep them from
positions of power.

Reflections On Being Canadian In A Messed-Up World
