After Three Years Of Trump Economics, I’d Really Like A Refund.

A lot of things about the Trump administration are disturbing. Anybody with a couple of brain cells to rub together can see that, for any one of a number of reasons, Trump very much appears to be sabotaging the well-being of the many for the benefit of himself and the greedy few.

A couple days ago, I noticed this article on Facebook and found it disturbing on par with the industrial deregulation that he has been okaying over the past couple of years.

By removing one of the key mechanisms that track pollution across the US, he has also removed the ability for environmental groups and, of course, democrats, to gather evidence of the wide spread damage his deregulation has caused and create evidence based arguments that can form the basis of any legislation designed to stop this heinous activity.

In the meantime, the industrial pollution continues unabated poisoning water systems, ruining land and sowing the seeds for long term physical damage from pollution related illnesses for people.

This morally reprehensible behavior has come to be a hallmark of the Trump administration, while all the while he parades around the country telling everyone lies about how good life is in America, when the simple fact is that way over 50% of the people in the country are still waiting to see that manifest in their lives.

Sadly, the things that will manifest for certain are various forms of cancer, and blood poisoning from chemically rich waste water that is moving through grossly outdated and ineffective municipal filtration systems. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The infrastructure improvements that would include helping states and cities upgrade these facilities are nowhere to be seen. The budgets have been eaten up by legal fees for the endless stream of political activity and lawsuits against this administration, tax cuts to the rich, military spending to manage the endless stream of wars the US is involved with, and of course the totally useless border wall, that protects absolutely no one from a threat that only Trump and a few idiots think is real.

And the bills that have been created and passed by Congress, well over 300 of them sit in limbo in the Republican controlled senate.

But despite all of that and much more, Trump keeps up his aggressively bullshit-ridden Twitter rantathon, and a series of rallies where he lies repeatedly to stupid people about how great a job he is doing.

He has managed to create an almost perfect alternative reality for these poor souls in which there is a chicken in every pot, a booming stock market (which only about 20% the population can afford to play), and a soon to be realized victory in the the tariff war with China and other countries.

As I follow the incredible spectacle of nonsense this man has created, and as I see the effects of his madness ripple around the world, I worry, and not just for the United States, but for everyone in every country whose leaders behave the same way…using their power to benefit the rich and fuck over everyone else.

I am deeply saddened by this, as are many of the people I know who simply cannot believe this state of affairs was even allowed to materialize in the first place. Who look back on the Obama years of effective economic recovery and slow, steady growth, and now see a government that is completely stagnant, crushed under the weight of its desire or necessity, to please a narcissistic fool.

Now there are a lot of people who will read this and tell me that I am full of shit, just another sore loser lefty with a big giant ax to grind.

Sadly, however, these are the people who either had their minds poisoned by the Conservative Koolaid, or who are somehow temporarily benefiting from this in some very substantial way.

These are also people who conveniently manage to avoid the opinions of high-end economists and market experts who are all predicting a major economic setback for the US as all this nonsense reaches critical mass, of the entire scientific community who warns that bigger and more destructive weather conditions are on the way to the good old USA.

So it’s very hard to take them seriously when all they do are play back Conservative talking points, that are, by any objective analysis, simply not supported by reality.

So as my friend Jerry Fletcher, would, and often does, say…and so it goes.

Mostly these days it’s sitting at the top as artificially constructed hill, inching toward the downslope.

Not many people will believe it until it happens…so to them I say, with all sincerity…just wait and see.
