Fear and writing

As a writer, fear has been a constant companion throughout my writing journey. It can often feel overwhelming and debilitating, but I am determined not to let it triumph.

I have explored fear extensively in my writing and how to conquer it, but it's crucial to acknowledge that fear is not an adversary; it's an ally. Fear serves as a valuable companion, keeping us alert to potential hazards and pushing us to be at our best. Instead of shying away from fear, I view it as an opportunity to expand my horizons and learn something new. Overcoming fear or simply disagreeing with its message, such as completing a marathon, leads to the fulfillment of our goals.

We've all heard the age-old adage: "Fear is an excellent motivator." While many people admit to being fearful, few harness that fear as a source of motivation.

Fear takes many forms. The fear of failure, of inadequacy, of not being good enough – these are universal fears, and the discomfort that accompanies them is completely normal. I learned long ago that no matter how daunting my fears may seem, I can surmount them by persistently moving forward and not succumbing to their grip. Today, when faced with fears about my weight loss or the quality of the blog post I'm crafting for submission to a search engine programmer, rather than battling against them, I embrace them.

Fear can be likened to that fleeting sensation of foreboding when you anticipate something going wrong. It's a signal, a brief moment of doubt that encourages us to reconsider our actions. This is why it's often referred to as the "fear of fear."

The fear of pain and death can be seen as a minor hurdle we must conquer in our personal growth journey. It can hinder us from reaching our full potential or, worse, prevent us from pursuing something that truly matters to us. Fear can paralyze us, and while caution in some situations is sensible, there are times when fear becomes so overwhelming that it cuts our chances of making a meaningful impact in half.  But when you overcome the fear and win, the feelings carry you forward to the next battle with pride.
