OK, I get beBee now...

da4e7a3d.jpgI’m the Chief Information Officer for Appleby College, in Oakville, Ontario Canada, where my team is transforming the delivery of education through innovative application of technology.

I'm convinced that IT leadership needs to dramatically change how IT is delivered rather than being relegated to a costly overhead department.

In addition to transforming IT in my role as CIO, I look for every opportunity to talk about this... writing, speaking and now blogging on BeBee (www.bebee.com/@kevin-pashuk) , LinkedIn, ITWorld Canada, or at TurningTechInvisible.com.

I also shoot things... with my camera. Check out my photostream at www.flickr.com/photos/kwpashuk

That happens Randy when you meet up with a bear, you may wee in your pocket when all you have is the wee one in your pocket. I am talking about a knife... isn't that what you were referring to?

Old Canadian proverb: Keep a wee one in your pocket, but don't wee in your pocket.

I've just reviewed this post I wrote last May when I first joined beBee. I'm sending it to a former colleague who saw my update on LinkedIn and asked me to tell him more about beBee...

Kevin Pashuk - yes - it is a great preview of what this platform is and what it is doing. It is a great Ambassador type of thing.

Thank you for this post, Kevin Pashuk I am looking forward to seeing what happens to us as beBee develops and adapts and grows.

I assume if you tell someone on this site to mind their own "beeswax" it is an insult of the highest order. Or, a bunch of 6-year-olds have created a hive.

Mind you following me James? Heck! I encourage it! As long as you don't mind me following you back.. That's the beauty of social media... learning from each other (rather than proving to me how much fun you are having, or trying to sell me something).

Welcome to beBee Sheri Anderson! I think you will find that beBee is much like going to a buffet restaurant... not much happens if you just sit in your seat and wait. One must get up and be active to enjoy the experience.

Taken at my daughter's wedding, Kevin Pashuk. The wife's smile is sheer relief at getting her off our hands. My smile is because I'm counting my lucky stars about not getting kicked under the table. 😀 #41

Great posting Ken Boddie, I did comment on, and share that post. BTW, your wife looks so happy. When my wife and I are together she is usually kicking me under the table for something I've just said. I'm surprised she takes me anywhere.

Kevin Pashuk, thank you for writing this. I am new to this platform, and agree with some of your thoughts. I am working on my profile in the background and will have some updates soon. Your post reminded me to start on my BB action items.

Thanks @Chas-Wyatt. It is also good to be acquainted with you. Thanks for pointing out the challenge to the ecosystems reliant on bees is not limited to Canada, but it is something all the beBees around the world can support and create awareness.

Thanks Javier C\u00e1mara Rica I work at being my best in all those areas but I'm afraid being a curmudgeon comes quite naturally. ;)

No problem with any of it Kevin Pashuk. I visited "Anne's home" and got a box set of the books there.

Thanks Sara Jacobovici, I tend to (over)use "kindred spirit" since it featured so prominently in Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables" books. Since I am a Canadian with a daughter, I couldn't help but have Anne as part of our lives... so 'kindred spirit' is fully embedded.

"Well written article"??? Franci Hoffman, you obviously were not my high school English teacher. Somedays I think I write just to spite her... but then, it does get me writing.

Aw, shucks Dean Owen... This blushing is ruining my rugged good looks. As with a bee hive, it's the colony that gives life... we are in this together.

Your contributions are appreciated Phillip Hubbell. It certainly helps those of us in similar industries get to know you a bit better, and perhaps have your name come to mind when we end up in certain discussions. Then we can say "Hey! I know a guy..."

Maybe this is a good time to highlight the plight of bees. In North America, one of the more popular (I know, it's subjective) breakfast cereals is Honey Nut Cheerios, with a bee as their mascot. They have recently started a #BringBackTheBees.ca campaign to raise awareness. Here's the YouTube video... https://youtu.be/9fbMQUVYuRQ

Thanks @Ali-Anani! You were one of the 'kindred spirits from across the planet' I referred to.
