The Truth About Apples & Bananas

The Truth About Apples & Bananas

If you watch CNN and a lot of people do, mainly because they, like me, are hopelessly addicted to the Washington Shitshow, you may have noticed that they have a new commercial that simply shows a picture of an apple.

The purpose of this commercial is to promote the idea, thinly disguised under a fruity metaphor, that they are reporting the facts, and that the White House, specifically the current proprietor and his talking heads, are spending an inordinate amount of time trying to convince people that  apples (the facts) is actually bananas. (the alternative facts).

While CNN may be slanting their reporting to fight off all the attacks they have been under for the past couple of years now, they are never really spinning outright lies.

Sadly, it would appear that a great many people in America have bought into the notion that apples are, in fact, bananas.

This means they can no longer see the forest for the trees because they have been totally brainwashed by the forces of the Banana Republic that the proprietor of the White House is trying to create in America.

It also means that they are potentially complicit in their own downfall. Because, as things continue to unfold along the Banana Republic agenda, they will find themselves, their families, their jobs their well being and your future in grave danger.

The Banana Republic very much appears to want to create an America where opportunity will only exist for a few and displacement and marginalization will be the fate of the many. And that many includes pretty much everyone who believes that an apple is a banana because they have had that shouted at them from a high place with astounding frequency.

The Banana Republic vision looks and feels more and more like a fascist regime every day. A lot of people around the world, including many in my country (Canada), are praying that this doesn't come about, because it cannot help but have an extremely adverse effect on our trading relationship with America not to mention the balance of power in the world.

Admittedly, it’s become exponentially more difficult to separate the apples from the bananas these days, and that’s one of the first steps toward the creation of Banana Republics.

The next step is making apples completely unavailable so that your only choice will be bananas. And you can rest assured that the best tasting bananas will be outrageously priced and only available to the Banana Republic ruling class.

There are a few people out there who are representing the Apple Lobby and as hard as they might try, I fear they are being subverted by the huge glut of bananas out there. I hope I'm wrong about that and that this insurrection will soon come to an end, because I really like my apples.

Stephen Colbert is one of these fearless Apple Lobbyists. I watch him every night because the Late Show, along with The Daily Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live are quickly becoming the only baskets of apples that are left out there.

I applaud CNN for putting this message out there, as self-serving as it might be. But I am also dismayed that the apple vs banana confusion has become so chronic that they felt the need to do it in the first place.

Everybody lies Brian McKenzie. This piece was actually about how all the lying that's gone on recently has dumber way too many people down. Facism 101.

Politics are not my strong suit, but watching the Fruits fly is a great distraction from Trump, lobbyists, big business, Trump and...Trump. I enjoyed McCain calling Trump out on FIVE counts of military evasion. Bring back Reagan...at least he was funny! :)

Jim, If CNN turns your stomach, don't even go near talk radio. I keep one station tuned to an AM talk and one to Public Broadcasting (PBS) in my car. I can stomach the AM Talk no more than about ten minutes at a time but figure I need to at least hear what the twits are spewing. If I hear onw more conspiracy theory I may gag!

All they actually do now on CNN is try and prove that they are not doing fake news because a bunch of asshole believe that they are.. It's kinda sad. This commercial made it even sadder.

There is a species of fruit in the Caribbean, (I had several in my yard), called an "Apple-banana", they are a short, plump and very sweet banana. It is unfortunate they are never exported. Maybe they are a reflection of the social/psychological mindset in that part of the world.

In the UK a silly nana is a name for an idiot. I can't find that the nana part is pronounced like in banana rather than nana as in another name for a grand mother. We Brits love to create words in Cockney rhyming slang. Here's one I made up earlier Banana split = Twit. To continue the cockney rhyming theme would you Adam and Eve it ( believe it) another apple story. No guesses as to who the snake is in all this.

"Shitshow" is an apt descriptor, and many of my fellow Canadians are as hopelessly addicted to it as Americans. My only reprieve from it was in May when my wife and I spent a week in The Big Apple (no link to the above apple :-)) and we never heard a word on politics. As long as CNN depicts their apple without a bite in it all is good.
