    Construction Manager - Undergrounds

    Key Information:

    1. Must be able to oversee entire construction project.
    2. Must be able to provide leadership to promote productivity on site.
    3. Must have at least 10 years experience in civil construction.
    4. Must have 3-5 years of undergrounds experience.

    Hours: based on a 40 hour work-week, but extended hours are required during construction season. Hourly rate is dependent on experience. Health benefits, vacation pay, and other benefits offered.

    Job Description:

    1. Plan the construction project to establish effective organization.
    2. Direct the overall construction program of the project.
    3. Provide leadership to promote maximum productivity.
    4. Maintain accountability for field costs and forecast costs to complete; and implement cost control procedures within the Project Execution Plan.
    5. Recommend the award of construction contracts based on the analysis of the estimating department.
    6. Negotiate contractual terms with the selected contractor(s); and administer contracts efficiently to maximize contractor performance and minimize exposure to claims and extras.
    7. Incorporate procedures so that required information (such as forecast costs and progress data) flows effectively within the project group, to senior company managers, and to our Industrial Clients.
    8. Coordinate with municipal authorities as required for public relations, permits and construction interfaces.
    9. Develop a plan for turnover of the completed facility to Operations and ensure that turnover is completed on schedule.
    10. Managing the liaison between project design engineering and the field.
    11. Ensure jobsite procedures and controls are implemented by all personnel.
    12. Review, with the Accounting, all construction contractors' invoices for physical percent complete or units of work complete and approve as appropriate.

    Experience and Certification Requirements:

    1. Software is heavily used within the organization processes; the candidate must have strong computer skills and have a history of working within software programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel) and Proprietary Software
    2. Able to mentor Field Engineers and young Project Managers.
    3. Good people skills.
    4. Excellent analytical skills.
    5. 3-5 years of underground experience is required.
    6. A valid drivers license (class 5) is required. A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
    7. Proficient English language skills required.
