    Business Partner, Health Innovation

    Alberta Innovates is seeking a Business Partner accountable for monitoring health-related investments managed by the Research or Health System Transformation Portfolios.

    Reporting to the Director of Research or Director of Health System Transformation, The Business Partner, Health Innovation plays an important role in both stakeholder management and investment management within the Health Innovation team, particularly within the Research and Health System Transformation portfolios. The position is also expected to proactively act in the interests of Albertans to ensure investments are moving towards impact - this will include identifying potential partners, working closely with the Directors and other team members to build, maintain, and execute value-add relationships with partners. The successful incumbent will be accountable for (but not limited to) the following:

    • Contributes to the management of program investments and all activities related to the lifecycle of investments. This includes monitoring and evaluating project investments in the Research and Health System Transformation portfolios, program design and implementation.
    • Contributes to portfolio and program evaluations, operationalizing reporting tools, and developing strategies for improvement.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, industry colleagues and government representatives towards achieving impact.
    • Stay abreast of industry and competitive trends; maintain a broad understanding of the key macro and microeconomic issues, and the key stakeholders involved in Alberta's industries, government, and various government agencies to educate Senior Management and integrate into the planning function.
    • Proactively identify and evaluate opportunities for business growth and innovation within the health sector.

    Educational Requirement:

    • A minimum of bachelor's degree in health sciences, economics, or commerce is required. Master's degree in a health sciences, economics, or commerce preferred.

    Experience and Qualifications we are looking for:

    • 2-5 years of experience in a research and innovation administration environment
    • Experience establishing and maintaining good working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders to support the development and delivery of initiatives.
    • Experience with program management.
    • Broad knowledge of the health and innovation environment in Alberta.
    • Demonstratable knowledge with regards to emerging health issues, trends, technological advances, and their application across the health continuum from prevention, diagnosis, intervention.
    • Knowledge and experience with working with post-secondary institutes, health system, political/government structures, and processes.
    • Experience in translational or implementation health research, preferred.
    • Knowledge of health technology commercialization or implementation barriers, preferred.
